![]() On the North Somerset coastline looking out across the Bristol Channel, Minehead boasts a wide expanse of sand and shingle beach alongside a sheltered harbour. To the west is the delightful village of Porlock and Porlock Weir, bordered by wild sea marshes. Both offer a perfect centre from which to explore the stunning coastline with the South West coastal path and breathtaking scenery of Exmoor. The whole coastline is popular for both rod and line fishing.
There is plenty to see and do; a visit to Dunster Castle is well worthwhile, with it's marvellous views out to sea and towards the Quantock Hills. You can take an exciting trip on the paddle steamer Waverley or cruise ship Balmoral in summer months.
West Somerset Railway in Minehead, Britain’s largest powered steam railway includes ten stations over twenty miles, with signal boxes and station buildings all restored en route. Try one of their special events which run throughout the year.
