AppledoreAppledore, where the rivers Torridge and Taw meet the mighty Atlantic, became a thriving port during the 14th Century and by Elizabethan times had a proud reputation for boat-building and fishing too. Today people stay in Appledore cottages for the artistic inspiration as much as the maritime roots. The cobbled lanes, smugglers' tunnel and pastel-painted cottages in Appledore provide scenes to captivate forever, while all eyes are on the water at high tide when it bustles with sailing boats from the North Devon Yacht Club on the opposite bank at Instow. Appledore self-catering cottages offer a wonderful location for Devon seaside holidays. |
