Our Bucks Mills cottages are located within North Devon’s coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of a delightful small rock face. Here the cove offers spectacular views of Bideford Bay out to Lundy Island, whilst walkers will be pleased to know that The North Devon coastal path crosses the village – opening up Bucks Mills to nearby Clovelly and Peppercombe.

A pretty stream falls over the rocky cliff edge onto a pebble beach – where a ‘Gut’ on the beach rocks can be seen. Here Elizabethan’s used gunpowder to allow access to a former quay whilst the 18th Century harbour features the remains of Lime Kilns where fertiliser was once made from imported culm.

Head west from Bideford and you will come across our cottages in Hartland on the historic Hartland Peninsula – offering twelve miles of spectacular coastline, breathtaking scenery, wonderful cliff top walks and beautiful secluded beaches to explore.

On the 13,000-acre Hartland Peninsula history buffs will be pleased to find one of the largest royal manors in the Saxon times of King Alfred. Must-see places include Hartland Point, which rises 350ft above sea level and is home to a famous lighthouse, and Hartland Quay with its dramatic rugged coastline, unbelievable rock formations and fascinating geological sites.

Our cottages in Hartland Forest offer a secluded golf course amidst unspoilt rolling countryside. Lifeboat Weekend, held in aid of the R.N.L.I July 2011

Keeping Clovelly's lifeboat on alert for emergencies round the clock takes effort and dedication.  Held in aid of the RNLI, Clovelly's Lifeboat Weekend is a popular celebration of the lifeboat and her crew. Sunday 20th November 10am-4pm: In the 18th century, a hundred boats fished for the 'silver darlings' (herring) out of Clovelly.  This festival is held in support of sustainable fishing by traditional methods and to celebrate the herring, the Silver Darlings of the sea. Mike Smylie will return with his popular 'Kipperland' exhibition and will also be smoking delicious kippers and bloaters in his smokehouse.  'Flaxland' will bring along a curragh and demonstrate flax processing and knitting.
