For a rejuvenating trip away from it all, it''s hard to beat staying at this delightful home surrounded by 24 acres of wildflower meadows and lakes. You''ll have walking, wild swimming and fishing opportunities on the site itself, alongside plenty of spots for picnicking without a care in the world. And when it''s time to explore the wider area, Dartmoor National Park is only 7 miles away, with its rugged moorland, peaks and welcoming villages.
The property, sleeping up to three guests and three canine companions, is located in a former 17th-century barn. You''ll be smitten on arrival, with its exposed stone exterior adorned with lovely planting. Step inside to soak up the countryside vibes in the delightful kitchen with its sloped ceiling, exposed wooden beams and rustic stone walls. When it comes to mealtimes, dine at the farmhouse-style breakfast table or in the open-plan lounge/dining room, which has an atmospheric and memorable decor with wooden pillars and ceiling beams. Completing the ground floor is a bathroom with a shower over the bath. When the evening draws to a close, climb the cottage''s wooden stairs to a wonderful double bedroom overlooking the living space. This room also has an additional single bed that can be made up on request. While there''s no private outdoor space, you''ll be spoilt for options on the surrounding site which includes a lake house overlooking the water where you can sizzle up idyllic BBQs. Private parking for two cars is available.
There''s plenty to do nearby, perhaps heading to National Trust''s Lydford Gorge (6 miles) to explore its pretty river gorge, woodlands and waterside trails. Okehampton (7 miles) is a market town where you''ll find the nearest pubs and shops, while Tavistock (14 miles) and Launceston (15 miles) also have plenty to offer visitors.
