Dunster Castle, National Trust, Nr Minehead

It is impossible to miss the rosy-red turrets and towers of Dunster Castle. The Castle rests high on the Tor at Dunster, with a bird's-eye view of the coast and Exmoor below. Arlington Court & the National Trust Carriage Museum

Arlington Court was built in 1822 for Colonel John Chichester, whose family had owned the estate since 1384. Sunday 20th November 10am-4pm: In the 18th century, a hundred boats fished for the 'silver darlings' (herring) out of Clovelly. This festival is held in support of sustainable fishing by traditional methods and to celebrate the herring, the Silver Darlings of the sea. Mike Smylie will return with his popular 'Kipperland' exhibition and will also be smoking delicious kippers and bloaters in his smokehouse. 'Flaxland' will bring along a curragh and demonstrate flax processing and knitting.
