Good quality furnishings and fittings enhance any property and improve its letting potential,while finishing flourishes such as pictures and cushions make it look cared for and welcoming. Personal touches can add to the overall holiday experience – you might like to greet customers with a bunch of flowers, a bottle of wine or a ‘welcome tray’ of essentials  such as tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits.

A selection of books and games and a ‘fact file’ containing information on local attractions and amenities is always appreciated. This should include ‘house notes’ including instructions on refuse collections, and a list of telephone numbers for emergency contacts.

How can you make your property more appealing?

You can maximise the letting potential – and therefore the profitability – of your property by applying as few restrictions as possible… holiday homes which allow pets, for example, are always in high demand. Bed linen must be provided and customers want to know exactly what they will be paying, so electricity and heating are included in the cost of hiring your property.

What about housekeeping and maintenance?

Our reputation – and your revenue – depends very much on us working in partnership to deliver a consistently high quality cottage holidays to our discerning customers. We want our cottages to offer a real home-from-home, and every holiday taken with us to be hassle-free and memorable for all the right reasons.We aim to exceed expectations… and with the support of our homeowners, we frequently do!

The prime requirement will always be cleanliness, but customers will expect equipment such as a television, microwave and washing machine, and other appliances such as dishwashers, freezers and DVD players are increasingly sought-after. You may wish to consider offering broadband too.

Your property should always be clean and warm with hotwater, fridges and freezers switched on. All properties should have some form of heating, even if they’re only let over summer, and a proper heating system is mandatory for all-year-round letting.

We support your efforts in providing a quality holiday cottage by finding a suitable housekeeper for your property who will play a direct role in looking after changeovers. We provide comprehensive housekeeping notes to ensure that properties are cleaned and maintained to a high standard. All potential housekeepers are interviewed by our Customer Service Manager prior to introduction and we work closely with them to resolve any problem that may arise during a letting.
