Dartmouth Area Guide

The seaside town of Dartmouth is hugely popular amongst tourists and perfect for an active short break, relaxing holiday… or both! Situated at the mouth of the River Dart, it’s no surprise that Dartmouth is rich in maritime history and overlooked by the famous Royal Naval College.

This bustling market town is perfect for everything water related, exploring the South West Coast Path and of course browsing the art galleries and independent boutiques through the maze of lanes that make up the town centre.

If you fancy a beach day, the nearby quiet beaches of Castle Cove and Sugary Cove are just a short walk from the town centre, both at the mouth of the River Dart, with fantastic views and welcoming dogs all year round. Or take a short drive to Blackpool Sands with its beautiful mediterranean-looking sands or Slapton Sands, an impressive two-mile stretch of beach.

The town has many well-attended events which take place throughout the year. In May, dance the night away at the Dart Music Festival, in August get involved in the Royal Regatta and taste some culinary delights in October at the Dartmouth Food Festival.

This is the perfect destination to sit back, relax and watch the boats bob by.
