Things to Do in Shaldon
One of the most secluded and picturesque beaches in the area is Ness Cove beach, a short walk from the town centre. Accessed through an original smugglers tunnel, the shingle beach is a great spot for bathing, rockpooling and fishing.
Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a small zoo set in an acre of woodland garden where you can see some of the rarest and most endangered animals in the world, a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
For a bit of family fun why not have a go at pitch and putt on Shaldon Cliffs - you also get to enjoy so spectacular views across to Teignmouth. Not far from here is Homeyards Botanical Gardens with free access to its terraced gardens, Italian rockeries, water features and small castle.
A little further afield you can visit Old Walls vineyard and take a tour of the vineyard and sample some local wine. Or drive the 15 miles to nearby Dartmoor and explore the dramatic and romantic moorland.
