Go panning for gold at Geevor Tin Mine
Published: Tuesday 19th Nov 2013
For those lucky people who have already visited Geevor Tin Mine located in Pendeen, near to Penzance in deepest West Cornwall they already know that Geevor Tin Mine is an award winning attraction. However the proof is now in the pudding, so to speak. Geevor has had their most successful year ever at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2013. Not only did they win 'Gold' for Art, Museum & Maritime Attraction, 'Silver' for Historic & Heritage & Country House but to top it all they won the coveted Winner of Winners, this was no mean feat amongst lots of other well known and unique attractions short-listed for the award.
Marsdens is delighted to team up with Geevor and are now able to offer discount tickets to any customers staying in one of its Cornwall cottages. However with so much to see and do at Geevor it's hard to know what to do first. You can take your pick from The Underground Tour. Put on your hard hat and follow the route that the miners used to take deep down into the tunnels. The guide will lead you into all the nooks and crannys that are located underneath the ground. But be warned, it's not for the faint hearted. Have you always wanted to pan for gold? Then here's your chance to look for gold and other minerals. Children just love to see if they can find anything of value. And what's more anything you find you can take home with you. Who knows you might go home richer than when you arrived. Or take a visit to the 'Hard Rock' museum and learn the history of mining in Geevor. Take a look at the 'Dry' and take in the atmosphere of what it was like everyday for the miners. However no trip to Geevor is complete without eating one of their famous pasties. Sit back and relax in the 'Count House' cafe and take in the breathtaking views over the Atlantic ocean. Well what are you waiting for?
