The countdown to Christmas has begun!
The countdown to Christmas has begun. Sunday 24th November sees an afternoon and evening of entertainment celebrating the switching on of Barnstaple Christmas lights. From 1pm The Square will be “the place” to be. Music and entertainment will lead through to the official switch on at 6.30pm and beyond with artists including Luminites – finalists in Britain’s Got Talent, The Adam Isaac Band from BBC’s The Voice and contributions from North Devon schools as well as the Devon Youth Orchestra. Pressing the official “on” button this year are up and coming girl band Stooshe. The MOBO and Brit Award nominated trio have been shortlisted for Artist of The Year, Best Female Act and Best R&B Act at next month’s Urban Music Awards. Don’t miss this great chance to see them perform their music live on stage. Following the switch on – which heralds the start of late night shopping in the town – shops will be open until 9pm. There will also be street entertainers and refreshment stalls available in and around the town and a family fun fair along the Strand.
Other official late night shopping dates for Barnstaple, including the famous Pannier Market selling locally made gifts, produce and clothing are on Thursdays 5th, 12th and 19th December.
