Love walking holidays?

The South West is the perfect destination for a walking holiday with miles of coast path and inland bridle ways, the Tarka trail and other moorland right of ways. A particular favourite walk of mine is along the north coast of Devon in a village called Combe Martin. Combe Martin is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of Exmoor and has a harbour, cove and numerous shops and pubs.

The walk is a circular, challenging but rewarding route. The 5.5 mile long walk takes you inland through fields and woodland and then heads towards the coast. Once you have climbed to the top of Great Hangman, it is the perfect spot to take a break, pull out your flask and rug and take in the breath taking views across the Bristol Channel. On a clear day you can see the south coast of Wales.

Once in the village, you can take a well-earned rest at the beach side pub - the Focsle, which overlooks Combe Martin harbour. On a summers evening you may be able to spot 'Dave' the dolphin out beyond the harbour.

Marsdens Devon Cottages have lots of holiday cottages in the village of Combe Martin and the surrounding area.
