Discover what lies beneath the North Devon Sea
Published: Monday 14th Apr 2014
The Ilfracombe Aquarium is a fantastic day out for the entire family whatever the weather. The Aquarium takes you through a journey of ecosystems from the source – an Exmoor stream on the North Devon hills down through the rivers, estuaries, rock pools and then the sea off the North Devon Coast.
The aquarium is home to 75 aquatic species which you can observe in their recreated natural habitat.
You will be able see wonderful sea creatures, that you wouldn’t normally get to see, such as the Thornback Ray found in harbours.
It makes a great and fun educational day out for all ages. Why not challenge the family to one of the free quiz trails. There are also feeding demonstrations too!
You can find the Aquarium down on the Ilfracombe Harbour, where there is plenty of parking. Ilfracombe Aquarium The Old Lifeboat House The Pier Ilfracombe Devon, EX34 9EQ

If you are looking to grab a bite to eat afterwards the Aquarium has its own Pier café. There are also plenty of eateries to choose from around the harbour such as Damien Hirst’s 11 The Quay Restaurant.
