A recent 2014 survey has revealed that two out of five of us Brits holiday with our pets each year. And we don't just mean dogs; cats, rabbits, rats, fish and iguanas make the list too! Yes we are indeed a nation of pet-lovers, suckers for them in fact, so why would we leave them at home when holidaying in the UK? With increasing numbers of hotels, self-catering properties and pubs allowing dogs, it seems foolish not to bring them along. A beach just isn't the same without an exhilarated dog running around with a huge smile on its face.
But what do you look out for when deciding where to take your pet on holiday? Friendly and welcoming business owners, top-notch facilities for your pet, or just amazing beaches and countryside to freely explore without care? We want to know your favourite stories, businesses, pictures and tips for travelling with your animal companion.
To get you thinking, we’ve published a guide to the best things to do and places to explore with your dog in Devon and Cornwall. Around half of our 300 properties in the Southwest are pet-friendly, and we’ve started an exciting new community on Google Plus where you can share your favourite pet snaps, discuss your favourite pet-friendly businesses and get great tips on holidaying in the UK with your pet.
There will also be regular competitions and special offers, so don't miss out – join now!
