No excuses for bored children this half term - there's plenty to do and see this half term in North Devon. Here's a quick round up of just a few of the fun things you can do next week.
Tuesday 17th February - Celebrate Pancake Day
Lentsherd at Clovelly
Lentsherd (pronounced 'Lanshard') is an old Clovelly custom, which takes place every year on Shrove Tuesday. At dusk, children meet at the top of the cobbles and then set off down to the harbour, dragging along clattering tins that are tied to string. At the harbour, all these tin cans are tied together and thrown into the sea (to be retrieved later). The idea is to help rid Clovelly of all the bad things from the previous year by chasing bad spirits away and driving the devil into the sea before Lent. All children taking part can enjoy a FREE pancake! And its FREE entry after 4.30pm. For further details, please visit www.clovelly.co.uk
Pancake Day Races at South Molton
Get the family over to South Molton's Pannier Market on Shrove Tuesday for pancake races for all - preschoolers, children, families, mums and dads and grandparents. Only £1 entry fee for adults (children are free). Plus there were be plenty of stalls and stands on the day to support local causes and charities - find out more HERE
Wednesday 18th February - Ranger Day at Arlington Court
This half term, join the rangers at Arlington Court for a fun day in the great outdoors. Discover what they do and enjoy learning some top 'rangering' skills such as shelter building, cooking on a fire, tracking animals, hunting for bugs and much more.
