Woolacombe voted UK's best beach

We were delighted to hear that once again, Woolacombe has been named as the UK’s best beach by TripAdvisor users. Yes, for the second year running, Woolacombe has kept its number one position in the top 25 beaches category of the recent TripAdvisor 2016 Travellers Choice Awards (February 2016).

Here in North Devon, we are proud of our spectacular coastline, its rugged cliffs, our beautiful sandy beaches, surrounded by unspoilt countryside.

And Woolacombe is a definite favourite. What’s not to love…this three mile stretch of golden sand lies between Mortehoe and Baggy Point.

There’s space for everyone. Great waves attract surfers, body boarders and swimmers. Beach lovers and families enjoy sunbathing, sandcastle building, family beach games, rock pool exploring and paddling in the sea in this most beautiful bay. Dogs are also welcome on the beach all year round (although there are some restrictions during peak seasons). The local cafes, restaurants, shops and pubs of Woolacombe village are all nearby.

And of course, don’t forget ‘Putsborough Sands’, it’s the same great beach but at the other end! There is plenty of parking, a great café and shop, plus this end of the beach is often a lot quieter than the top end of Woolacombe. It’s definitely worth a visit!
