Tapeley Park near Instow has been home to the Christie family for more than two centuries.
These beautiful gardens are open to the public six days a week (closed on Saturdays) and are a delight to explore - be it the formal lawns, edged with carefully tended hedges or the more natural permaculture garden which is one of the oldest in the UK.

With Italian terraces, ponds, lakes, woodland and even a vegetable garden it’s no wonder a trip to the tea rooms for welcome refreshments is scheduled! There are plenty of picnic spots too with magnificent, panoramic views across the estuary, over surrounding countryside and even out to sea.
The estate is pesticide free, meaning that all vegetables and even the Highland Cattle herd grazing on the land are completely organic.

Tapeley Park hosts various events including outdoor theatre and charity events and what a truly magnificent setting for a wedding! Check their website to see what they have planned.
Be quick for a visit this year though as the gardens close at the end of October!
