What's On this October Half-Term

October half-term is a brilliant time to plan a visit to North Devon as the beaches are much quieter than the peak summer months, but the sun is still shining, and the temperatures are still warm.

If you need some half-term holiday inspirations, take a look at some of the activities which are taking place throughout North Devon this October half-term.

 

Brownsham Family Nature Trail

Date: Sunday 14th – Monday 29th October

Location: National Trust car park at Brownsham

Get some fresh air this October half-term and explore the stunning Beckland Woods by getting involved in the free self-led Brownsham Family Nature Trail. Trail maps are available for free at the car park.

 

Celebrating the Harvest

Date: Saturday 20th October

Location: Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum

Between 11am and 3pm, admire the wonderful vegetables grown in the gardens at Arlington Court, discover new recipes, quiz the gardeners for top tips and join in with the family fun.

 

Forensic Science Activity Day

Date: Saturday 20th October

Location: Barnstaple library

Get the little ones involved in experiments and hands-on forensic activities at Barnstaple library. Choose between a morning (10am-12pm) or afternoon session (1pm-3pm). £15 per child, includes activities, take homes & refreshments. To book, call 07847006048

 

Choc Fest

Date: Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st October

Location: Affinity Devon Outlet Shopping, Bideford

Calling all chocolate lovers, you don’t want to miss this two-day celebration of all things chocolate in Bideford! A great opportunity to try a range of different chocolate products from some fantastic local producers.

 

Halloween Hocus Pocus

Date: Saturday 20th – Sunday 28th October

Location: The Milky Way Adventure Park

Need to entertain your little horrors? Head to the Milky Way Adventure Park to get involved in lots of spooky Halloween activities. Learn all things witchcraft and wizadry and of course, enjoy a fun day out at this popular family theme park. 

 

Apple Day

Date: Wednesday 24th October

Location: Clovelly Visitor Centre

Watch the apple press outside the Clovelly Visitor, enjoy taking part in apple crafts and have a browse around the small farmers market.

 

Barton Woodfest

Date: Wednesday 24th October

Location: Watersmeet

Learn new and exciting woodland skills, spot wildlife and try campfire cooking with the Exmoor rangers in the woods above Watersmeet.

 

Bampton Charter Fair

Date: Thursday 25th October

Location: Bampton

Join in the 760th Bampton Charter Fair! With over 100 stalls, livestock, entertainment and a funfair this is sure to be a great day out for the whole family.

 

Room on the Broom

Date: Friday 26th – Sunday 28th October

Location: RHS Garden Rosemoor

Take part in RHS Garden Rosemoor’s Halloween activities with a short film to watch and pumpkin carving activities. Book tickets online through the RHS Garden Rosemoor website.
