What’s your role at Marsdens? I’m the Manager of Marsdens Devon Cottages
How long have you lived in North Devon? I’ve lived in North Devon for 10 years #trulylocal
What’s your absolute favourite place to visit in North Devon and why? Around the coast it would have to be Croyde; the surf is amazing, the sunsets are stunning and my children love playing in the sand and on the sand dunes. Inland a bit it would have to be Marwood Hill Gardens it’s fantastic there throughout all the seasons but I especially love going in spring when the camellias and magnolias are in bloom as they are spectacular – they have a great tea room too!
What’s your favourite café or restaurant in the area and what would you choose to eat there? I can’t choose just one as there are too many, but my top three would be Block in Barnstaple for one of their local sausage sarnies on sourdough bread and great coffee, Croyde Stores in Croyde who also do great coffee and very tasty brunches and John’s of Instow for ice cream, which the kids then like to run off the sugar rush in the sand dunes!
Where do you like to go if you’re a little bit thirsty and what’s your favourite tipple? Having two young children keeps me busy in the evenings but when I can get out I like to go to SQ in Braunton for a cold pint of beer sitting on the roof terrace watching the world go by.
What’s your favourite hobby or activity to do in North Devon and how do you unwind after a busy day in the office? As you may well have seen on recent Facebook posts I’m currently training for the Exmoor Open Water Swim (which is in 9 days’ time!) so I’ve been running along the Tarka Trail, surfing at Saunton beach, and training with Bay Fitness beach boot camp on Croyde beach! We will keep you updated on my progress so watch this space!
What’s the one thing in North Devon you couldn’t live without? Having so many beautiful beaches on our doorstep to choose from.
