What’s your role at Marsdens? I am the New Business Manager
How long have you lived in North Devon? I have lived in Devon for over 20 years #trulylocal
What’s your absolute favourite place to visit in North Devon and why? For me, Ilfracombe will always hold a special place in my heart, from the tantalising chocolates that are handmade at the Chocolate Emporium by Jeanette to the fantastic ice cream parlours on the harbour. I believe Ilfracombe harbour could be the next Padstow with the right investment, there are so many wonderful places to eat and drink and so many activities to do and see. Just watch out for those seagulls though – as they’ll pinch your chips!
What’s your favourite café or restaurant in the area and what would you choose to eat there? There are so many to choose from - that’s a really hard question! However, there is nothing quite like sitting at the new Porthole café at the top of Woolacombe on Marine Drive, as the views are amazing. Across the River Taw I love Johns of Intow and Appledore, they do a mean avo on toast with poached eggs!
Where do you like to go if you’re a little bit thirsty and what’s your favourite tipple? I love to go to SQ in Braunton. We go there regularly for our local meetings, and there’s always a warm welcome from the staff. Of course I only have a latte during working hours, but after working hours on social gatherings I love their cocktails…well we do to have to support the local establishments!
What’s your favourite hobby or activity to do in North Devon and how do you unwind after a busy day in the office? I love walking my dogs along the beach in Woolacombe especially out of season, when you can wrap up warm and meander up to Putsborough Beach Café to sit on their raised terrace and enjoy a latte or hot chocolate and take in the amazing views.
What’s the one thing in North Devon you couldn’t live without? A cream tea at Hele Corn Mill Kathy and David bake such delicious cakes and scones! I always make sure I take some Marsdens Magazines in around teatime and of course sample what’s on offer that day, for research purposes only of course!
