Wrapped in beautiful rolling Devonshire countryside, this property is somewhere you can escape the hurly-burly of everyday life and enjoy the serenity of your surroundings. The cottage sits on an 80-acre working farm (which is part of the Higher Level Environmental Scheme), 11 miles from Exmoor National Park and 8 miles from Eggesford and some of the oldest Forestry Commission woodlands in the UK. The woodland and the moors are perfect for hikers, walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It also suits those who simply want to kick back and relax, perhaps with a swim in the shared heated swimming pool (open mid-May until the end of September).

In fact, if you like to stay active, you have even more choice on-site: enjoy a game of table tennis or pool in the shared indoor games room or challenge your loved ones to a game on the shared tennis lawn. After all of that, you can refuel with a hearty meal prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, or make use of the BBQ and eat out on the patio or in the garden. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is filled with warm tones and traditional features that make it the perfect place to enjoy quality time together.

The ancient town of Torrington (17 miles) has a number of attractions; the home of Dartington Crystal where you can watch the incredible art of glass blowing as well as picking up some bargains, and the RHS Rosemoor Gardens, with its beautiful floral displays as well as trails and activities for children, not to mention being the site for a number of family-oriented open-air theatre productions in the summer.

Please note, during the Covid 19 pandemic the shared pool will be offered on a rota basis and a limited amount of games shall be available outside and not in the games room.

We had a lovely stay in The Stables. Peaceful, lovely enclosed garden for our dog. Very relaxed atmosphere. The cottage has everything you need and the swimming pool and gardens were very much enjoyed by my children. We visited Tarr Steps and Westward Ho! A really great break.

Lovely and clean cottage. Approach road needs special care, need good suspension on car! Pool was brilliant, used it most days. North Devon is a gem, unlike the busy resorts in South Devon.

Fantastic place to stay! Beautiful accommodation in a lovely setting. We stayed in the stable cottage which was lovely. Had everything we needed and the scones, jam and cream were delicious. The pool and games room were ideal if you wanted to kick back and have a lazy day. The location is off the beaten track, which means its very peaceful, but be Read moreprepared to navigate narrow lanes to get anywhere. We thought it was fantastic, despite the weather. In fact that was probably a bonus as we all had a good rest, read and ate well, and look forward to coming back soon!
