This large and impressive stone-built barn conversion is one of two properties on a working cattle farm, near the Devon/Cornwall border and 8 miles from bustling Bude. The layout is cleverly upside-down, with bedrooms below and a well-equipped kitchen/diner and spacious dining/living room upstairs, making the most of the high beamed ceilings and countryside views. There’s a large games room with a full-size snooker table, and for a truly relaxing experience, a private hot tub on the patio.
Traditional stone and plasterwork inside and out gives an attractive and authentic look. Inside, it’s all about relaxation, with plenty of comfortable seating in the bright upstairs lounge area, and a mezzanine-level snug room for quieter moments. Two of the three double bedrooms, and the twin room, have direct access to the garden. Natural wood furniture, slate and wood floors, and a gentle colour palette make this a country-style haven. Outside, why not take in the view from the hot tub while you plan tomorrow’s adventures? Or if you’ve found some excellent local produce, spark up the BBQ for a family feast on the decked area. Farm tours, tractor rides, and visits to the animals (including the resident pig) can be arranged.
Two fishing lakes are accessible on-site for some quiet downtime, and Holsworthy within 4 miles has shops and pubs. Bude, a classic Cornish resort, has sandy Summerleaze Beach, shopping and dining, and a tidal pool. Northcott Mouth beach is dog friendly and not usually crowded. Drive 18 miles through the Pentire Point Widemouth Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to pretty Boscastle village. At the Tamar Lakes 10 miles away, you can arrange sailing, kayaking, and zorbing from the water sports centre.
