Escape to the picturesque English Riviera with a stay at this former Seafarer’s cottage, which lies a steep walk from Brixham town centre. Its unusual upside-down layout means the living areas are located on the first floor, making the most of the property’s far-reaching harbour views. There’s also a garden room reached by steps from the steep terraced garden - a delightful spot to drink in the sea views with your morning coffee or sundowners in the evening. Bikes can safely be stored here.
Three cosy bedrooms comfortably sleep six guests, two of which can be found on the ground floor (one twin and one bunk). Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the master bedroom suite on the second floor, where you’ll find an en-suite WC and more of those magnificent views. If you can draw yourself away from the windows though, you’ll find a cosy spot to relax in the lounge, curled up beside the flame effect gas fire, perhaps with a favourite book and a cup of tea.
Just half a mile from the cottage lies Brixham’s famous harbour, where you can enjoy a fishing trip or a pleasure boat tour of Torbay. Dine at some of the town’s best eateries, many of which specialise in fresh local seafood. And of course, no visit to the south coast is complete without a beach day; relax at St Mary’s Bay’s secluded beach (1 mile), enjoy the tidal pool at Shoalstone Beach (1.5 miles), or visit the town’s main Breakwater Beach (1 mile).
