Property code: BX045

In an enviable spot overlooking Brixham’s famous harbour, this character cottage is perfectly located for a relaxing seaside escape. You’ll find the cottage tucked away from the main buzz of the town, nestled at the end of a quiet road, making it a delightfully peaceful stay for a family of six. From the pretty patio garden, you can drink in the fabulous views over the inner harbour bowl, whether it’s with a cup of tea in the morning sunshine or sundowners as the day draws to a close.

Wake up to the incredible sight of the sea from the master bedroom, or on cold autumnal mornings, enjoy it from the lounge as you cosy up in front of the wood burner. The property is surprisingly spacious, with a dining room that seats six which leads through to the kitchen via one step up. On the second floor, a double bedroom lies in the eaves of the house, so guests should be aware that there is some reduced head-height and the bed is accessible from one side only, but it does boast its own reading room, kitchenette, and shower room - great for giving a couple their own space.

Like much of South Devon, Torbay is known for its beaches, and thanks to the English Riviera’s microclimate, the sea is usually warm here. Make the most of it and paddle in the waters at quiet St Mary’s Bay or the secluded Fishcombe Cove, both within 2 miles of the cottage. Brixham itself is lined with interesting shops and galleries for you to explore, as well as restaurants that feature heaps of fresh seafood caught locally.

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 1 queens size bed, located on the first floor
  • 1 twin room, located on the first floor (which has a single bed with an additional pull-out bed, to maximise space)
  • 1 double room located on the top floor
  •  Shower room with walk in shower and WC, located on the first floor plus another shower room with WC located on the top floor
  •  TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Wood burner (logs not included)
  • Gas range oven and hob, microwave, a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer
  • Beach, shops, and pubs all within walking distance
  • Steep cottage-style stairs make this property unsuitable for those with mobility issues, and children will need supervision
  • Brixham is busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep.
  • Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Brixham do not have private parking. However, alternative parking is available in local carparks.
  • Arrival: 17:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Upon entering property there was a nasty smell which remained even when opening windows. Soft furnishings and carpets very shabby and dirty. Position of property first class with unsurpassable views - just needs some TLC.

Needs a deep clean and new carpets and furniture. Great views but the windows are filthy. Top floor sitting room is very poorly furnished with old mis matched furniture and a sofa i would not sit on. Felt more like student accommodation than a holiday let. Patio area is full of weeds and generally unloved. Kitchen is modern and well equipped. ShoweRead morered was good but bathroom fixtures and fittings generally poor quality. I would not return to this property. Hide

This is a really comfortable, well equipped & (surprisingly!) spacious cottage. The view is incredible (& the steep walk up many steps from the quayside not to be underestimated !). Hairpin Cottage is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Brixham! Its location allows for picturesque views from almost every window.
