Situated overlooking the River Torridge lies this contemporary and stylish holiday home, located within walking distance to the heart of the popular fishing village of Appledore. If you are looking for a family retreat that offers the tranquillity and style of coastal living yet is close to local amenities and attractions, this is the ideal property for you. Strewn with beautiful beaches along this coastline sewn together by the dramatic South West Cost Path, the area provides some of the most spectacular scenery there is in North Devon.

This elegant reverse-level property has been carefully designed to maximise its enviable location and uninterrupted river views. Situated on the first floor is the impressive and spacious open-plan lounge/dining area with French doors that lead out to a private glass-fronted balcony. The well-equipped kitchen leads to the rear garden where you can dine alfresco whilst watching the sun go down. On the second floor, the vaulted ceiling loft space provides two spacious bedrooms with magnificent estuary views. You will find two further bedrooms situated on the ground floor.

Appledore is an historic fishing town sitting on the banks of the River Torridge and is thriving with bars, shops, galleries and restaurants. Take a stroll along the riverside quay and try your hand at one of the various water sports available such as kayaking, waterskiing, jet skiing or paddleboarding. Or visit the neighbouring village of Westward Ho! (3 miles) with 2 miles of sandy beach and a dramatic coastal path walk that stretches out to Abbotsham and Greencliff. The ‘Little White Town' of Bideford (3.5 miles) sits on the estuary and is steeped in history with its Old Bridge and Pannier Market, both definitely worth a visit.

Great property and location. Superb accommodation across 3 floors. We had 3 generations and the layout suited us to a tee. We cooked for 8 people every evening and there are plenty of pots pans and appliances to make the cooking simple.

We stayed (3 generations totalling 8 plus a chihuahua) for 2 weeks. The house is wonderful - the views from the first and second floors will linger long in the memory. Waterhayes is equipped with everything we needed for our stay, and there was plenty of space, with comfortable sitting areas both in and out of doors. The outside space (deck, balconRead morey, garden and parking for 4 cars) is great. There were also plenty of great places to eat and drink within a 10 minute stroll or short drive. Hide

House was great and so comfortable. There was everything that you needed to a make an amazing stay. Our dog, Dave doodle, enjoyed the garden and getting to know the neighbours. He also loved the balcony where he could keep watch on the passing traffic/people going by. We will definitely be returning for another visit soon!!

Good value if 8 adults are sharing cost, but a little expensive if 1 family member pays.
