Located in a quiet spot with the famous Ruby Way cycle trail on the doorstep, this pretty chalet promises a peaceful holiday to a couple looking for a romantic getaway. Contemporary and comfortable, this single-level property is an opportunity to embrace the countryside in your own little bolthole away from busy life. Wake up to the sound of silence and head out for a morning walk around the owners’ grounds, discovering the resident wildlife and saying hello to the neighbouring horses.

Whether you’re enjoying a BBQ in the garden or playing the upright piano in the living area, you’ll find something to keep you entertained here. The open-plan style of the property means everywhere is flooded with lots of natural light, but in the evenings it becomes a cosy haven; you’ll love to snuggle up on the sofa before heading to bed in the quiet bedroom area. In the morning, head out to the garden with your freshly-made Nespresso coffee and watch the wildlife in the pond.

As well as the Ruby Way, you’re just 11 miles from Okehampton where you can join the Tarka Trail for walking or cycling. If you fancy a trip to the coast, Bude (19.5 miles) is famed for its soft sand and is popular with surfers. RHS Garden Rosemoor (11.5 miles) is worth a wander around to see the varieties of plants and flowers, as is Tapeley Park (21 miles) where dogs are welcome to join you.

Jeanne and I have just had spent a fantastic week in the Owls Oak chalet . Lovely location, everything we needed and more. The hosts Nicola and Richard are the best people you could ever meet. Even provided some essentials for us like eggs and milk. Also recommended a few local places to eat. We will definitely be returning. Just remember to say heRead morello to the alpacas. Hide

Lovely week spent in Devon at the Chalet which was comfortable and cosy with all the facilities you need. Owners Nicola and Richard were friendly and very helpful. We would certainly return.
