The historic town of Ilfracombe (5 miles) offers boat trips to Lundy Island, where you can view an impressive selection of sea birds including puffins. Or drive to Exmoor National Park (12 miles) for day hikes through a natural paradise comprising moorland, woodland, rivers and coastland.
