This charming character cottage in the heart of beautiful North Devon offers a wonderful retreat from the bustle of daily life. The detached, single-storey property sleeps four guests, with two pets also welcome, and is one of a small complex of beautifully converted barns just 4 miles from the market town of Torrington. With a host of attractions for children on the 8-acre site, including small animal enclosures, play areas and tractor rides, this is the perfect location for a family holiday.

Exposed original beams enhance the light and airy open-plan living space of your rural hideaway. Delightfully furnished in contemporary style, it features comfortable seating with a wood burner-effect electric fire, a spacious dining area and well-appointed kitchen. Children will enjoy the resident rocking horse. There are two pretty bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, and the family bathroom has a relaxing whirlpool bath with a separate shower. Outside, enjoy your private, enclosed garden with a lawn, patio and seating to the front of the cottage. The large, shared garden sports indoor and outdoor play areas for young and older children, and they can help feed the small menagerie of animals, ranging from pigs to pygmy goats, as well as enjoy a ride on the tractor.

Keen walkers and cyclists can pick up the scenic Tarka Trail in lively Torrington where you’ll find independent shops and local produce sold in the fine Victorian Pannier Market. The Plough Arts Centre runs an active programme of music events, and the glorious RHS Rosemoor Gardens, spread across 65 acres, are must-see. The spectacular, 2-mile expanse of golden sand and surf at Westward Ho! (10 miles) is within 10 miles, while for yet more family fun, head for The Big Sheep Farm and Theme Park in Bideford (7.5 miles).

Very cosy , warm and inviting cottage. Well equipped and child friendly. Also blanket, poo bags and treats left for our dog. It was a very nice touch to have a cream tea on our arrival plus chocolate for our granddaughter. I would highly recommend this holiday.
