This homely retreat nestles on a wonderful complex of cottages in the peaceful heart of the North Devon countryside, where you can truly take in the tranquillity of country life. Keen walkers and cyclists are well placed to join the Tarka Trail, offering stunning scenery and many welcome food stops and watering holes along the way. The South West Coast Path (12 miles) offers a change in scenery but will still leave you in awe with those commanding coastal views. Enjoy a day on the beach on the 2-mile golden sands of Westward Ho! (12 miles), while the rugged scenery of both Dartmoor and Exmoor are accessible within 30 miles. For those who fancy venturing a little further, Clovelly (17 miles), with its steep cobbled streets leading down to the harbour, is an idyllic cliffside village to visit.
This wonderfully presented cottage is the largest of all the beautifully converted barns on site, and boasts a wonderfully relaxed, chic style filled with touches of colour. The main lounge hosts plenty of comfortable seating across two sofas, which are accompanied by two additional armchairs. Sit back, relax and enjoy those favourite films on the TV in front of the electric fire. You can open up the doors here to bring the outside in on those sunny afternoons. Cook up meals in the delightful kitchen/diner, complete with a breakfast table for those relaxed starts to the day and planning adventures ahead. The kitchen itself provides plenty of appliances, allowing you to enjoy a stress-free stay. In addition, there’s a wonderful dining room is a great spot for more formal evening meals together. Heading upstairs will bring you to a choice of three well-designed bedrooms to choose from. There is a king-size bed in one room with an en-suite shower room, followed by a zip-and-link twin room (which can be made into a super-king bed upon request when booking). The final bedroom is a lovely single – one junior bed suitable for children up to the age of 5 can be added upon request. Lastly, a separate family bathroom hosting a shower over a bath completes this retreat.
There is a large garden with a generous-sized patio with garden furniture. Plenty of space for the children to run around and play. There are two lovely apple trees in this garden only adding to the authenticity of the site and its roots. You are also free to enjoy the wonderful family attractions on site, including animal enclosures with alpacas, a miniature donkey, pygmy, goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and even a goose, or enjoy the gnome garden, indoor and outdoor play areas, fairy walk, stream and woodland paths. Meet the owners each morning for the daily animal feed, egg collecting and tractor ride. There is a total of 8 acres to explore on this fantastic complex.
