Holiday Cottages in Sidmouth

Sidmouth was once described by poet laureate John Betjeman as ‘a town caught still in a timeless charm’, and with its Regency buildings, spectacular coastline and countryside, and of course our lovely holiday cottages in the area, we couldn’t agree more. With magnificent sea views, dog-friendly facilities and a range of luxury features, our cottages in Sidmouth are perfect for all kinds of holidays.

Things to Do in Sidmouth

A charismatic Devon seaside town, Sidmouth offers sweeping, unbroken views across Lyme Bay and the magnificent Jurassic Coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At Sidmouth you have the best of both worlds being surrounded by spectacular countryside giving a rural feel but also with blue flag award winning beaches for that true breath of coastal fresh air.

There are too large beaches in Sidmouth for you to explore: Jacob’s Ladder and Town Beach. Both are hugged by striking red cliffs and are ideal places to head for a saunter and stroll to breathe in all that lovely Devon sea air or a paddle and a spot of rock pooling. Catch the ebb and flow of the tide just right and make the most of the expanse of golden sands that are revealed when the tide is out. Perfect for beach games or just chilling out and putting your feet up with an ice cream or hot chocolate and cake from one of the local cafés.

Aside from the gorgeous beaches, there are a number of fun and usual attractions and activities to check out in and around sunny Sidmouth. One of our favourite’s has to be the Seaton Tramway. Seaton is just a short drive away from Sidmouth and from her you can embark on the scenic journey that follows the edge of the River Axe. As you pass through two nature reserves, you’ll take in spectacular views of wading birds, green fields and rolling hills. The tramway is also one of many of the area’s dog friendly attractions and we’re sure that dogs will enjoy the trip just as much as humans.

A family favourite attraction and one for the animal lovers is the wonderful Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to hundreds of rescued donkeys, each with a different story and character by the bucket load! As well as meeting the donkeys, there are lots of walking trails, talks and demonstrations, making it the perfect family day out.

There are also plenty of events throughout the year in Sidmouth, the most notable being the Sidmouth Folk Festival, which has been going on since 1955 and happens during the first week of August every year. The summer season in Sidmouth is undeniably thrilling, but this coastal spot makes for a great holiday destination at all times of the year, and we guarantee there will be something going on whenever you visit. So do take a look at our Sidmouth holiday cottages and book your next East Devon trip with us.
