Description

This characterful three storey cottage is set in the Exmoor coastal village of Lynton, high up on the craggy cliffs overlooking the Bristol Channel. The charming Upper Cottage has been newly converted in a fresh and attractive style yet retains many of the character features of the original historic former chapel. Furnished in an 'upside-down' arrangement the light and airy lounge with its high apex ceiling is on the second floor to take advantage of the lovely hillside and Exmoor views. The attractive kitchen/diner is on the first floor and leads out to a rear patio with garden furniture, perfect for al fresco eating when the weather is fine. There are three spacious bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a further shower room as well as a cloakroom with a utility area.  Lynton's individual shops, cafes and restaurants lie a few minutes' walk away and the twin village of Lynmouth, at sea level, offers many more opportunities for browsing. Don't miss the unique Victorian Cliff Railway which joins the two. The unspoilt beauty of Exmoor National Park is on the doorstep and superb countryside surrounds the village. England's highest cliffs fall dramatically down to the sea and rocky headlands fade away into the distance. Deep wooded valleys seem to fold into the earth and rivers and streams splash and tumble over rocks to form magical pools and lakes. The famous Exmoor ponies can often be spotted high on the moorlands and red deer sometimes make a fleeting appearance. Horse riding, fishing and mountain biking can all be enjoyed closeby, and there is no better place for a spot of star gazing than the dramatic Valley of Rocks close by. Upper Cottage is a delightful property and a welcoming place to come home to after a busy day out exploring this unique part of Devon.

Reviews

Perfect cottage for our family, spanning three generations. Cream tea/welcome pack was much appreciated, also puzzles and games.

Mrs Anthea M,

Great holiday cottage, warm, cosy & relaxing property to stay in and we will be back! The only small thing that would make this property perfect in every way would be a tumble drier, apart from that excellent!
