Description

With easy access to the whole of North Devon and Exmoor,  Dairy Cottage is one of only two recently refurbished cottages adjacent to the owners substantial country house on the small estate of Beaples Barton just 1.5 miles from the village of Knowstone with its Michelin Stared pub and restaurant. Peacefully located  on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, at the end of a private lane and in a beautiful sheltered south facing nook.  Dairy Cottage offers magnificent views out over a lake and towards the splendour of Exmoor countryside. Ideal for getting away from it all, visitors can enjoy walking and riding along footpaths, tracks and bridleway or up on the high moors closeby.  Fishing is available in the lake and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged away from the cottages yet within the 75 acres of pasture and woodland.  This hidden location does however have easy access to other local villages and market towns offering farmers markets, antique shops and a variety of pubs and eateries. The historic city of Exeter with its Cathedral, riverside shops and restaurants as well as a modern shopping centre is less than 25miles and is also well worth a visit.

Dairy Cottage has a good sized open plan living area with dining suite and a newly fitted and well equipped kitchen. Stairs lead up to spacious landing with seating to provide an additional space for quiet relaxation.  A double room and a twin bedded room on this floor each have lovely Exmoor country views and a newly fitted shower room completes the internal accommodation. At the front of the cottage a small private seating area is an ideal spot to enjoy the wonderful views over the lake, woodlands and pasture  and experience the local wildlife including the Exmoor Red deer that are regular visitors along with buzzards, hawks and a multitude of other birds that visitors will enjoy observing. A barbeque area with outdoor furniture close to the lake provides further space to unwind and enjoy alfresco dining with family and friends.

Reviews

Stunning location, cottage was so spacious home from home equipped with everything you need.

Mr Andy B,

We had a really lovely week's stay in Dairy Cottage and John and Debbie were great hosts. The two resident cats were very friendly too! The cottage was sparkling clean, warm and cosy with everything we could possibly need and a lovely welcoming gift of a home-baked cake! The cottage is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings with the opportunity to spot some red deer - and the baby lambs in the adjoining fields were a great Easter bonus! It was a perfect place to relax and unwind as well as providing a great base for exploring all the best that Devon and Cornwall have to offer. We would love to come back and stay again.

Ms Larysa R,

We had a wonderful weeks holiday at Dairy Cottage. It was very clean fresh and comfortable and felt like a real home from home. Our hosts Debbie and John were friendly helpful and thoughtful. Would highly recommend anyone wanting a peaceful break to stay here. Fabulous.

C T,

The cottage and grounds were lovely, the owners were very friendly and made us a cake on arrival. There was every thing in the cottage that we needed including milk on arrival for a cup of tea. Everything in the cottage was new and was clean and tidy. The was a Kingfisher around the lake and red deer could be seen from the window. A very nice location for a quiet relaxing holiday. Thanks very much.
