Description

Nestled in the rolling Devon countryside this wing of a pretty, thatched 17th century Devon Farmhouse provides an extremely spacious holiday home for friends and family to enjoy. Nethercott Manor Farm is still very much a working farm with cattle and sheep and is conveniently situated just a few miles off the main North Devon link road making it an ideal location for those wishing to explore the wonders of Exmoor and its surrounding villages, towns and coastal beauty spots. The bustling market town of South Molton is a scenic 6 miles drive, which offers a wide range of amenities from a supermarket, swimming pool, bank and boutique style shops, or if it’s just a village shop/Post office you’re after than Bishops Nympton is a closer 3 miles. Back on the farm, visitors have access to over 160 acres of land, direct from the garden, which the four-legged family members will love, especially the stream to cool off in the summer months.

Stepping through the front door you get an idea of how spacious the property is, with large tiled hallway, cloakroom off with downstairs WC, and curved staircase with large church style window. The kitchen is beautifully decorated and in keeping with the farmhouse style, with exposed wood flooring, long dining table, large centre island and Aga which can be used to cook on, however there is a separate electric cooker with hob if you prefer. A utility room with washing machine, dishwasher and butler sink along with another study area is located off the kitchen, providing plenty of space for family pets to have their own area of the house, or for children to plug in their own games console. On the west side of the house the living room provides comfort and style with crushed velvet sofas, wood burner in stone inglenook, large flat screen TV and patio doors which open up onto the garden. Upstairs there is a large landing area with two bedrooms off, one King size with ensuite and garden views and a further Super king which can be changed into twins on request. There is also a family bathroom with bath and separate WC. Outside there is a large garden with seating area and swing bench, a gate leads through to the next field where guests are welcome to walk down to the stream at the bottom and enjoy evening walks in the surrounding countryside.

Accommodation: Ground floor: Entrance hall. Downstairs cloakroom with handbasin and separate WC. Living room with Smart TV, woodburner and two 3 seater sofas. Kitchen/diner with Aga, electric cooker and hob, American style fridge, freezer, filter coffee maker, large centre island with butler sink and dishwasher. Utility room with butler sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, additional room with desk and chair. First floor: Carpeted stairs with bannister, Bedroom 1 with King, built in wardrobes Smart TV and ensuite shower room. Bedroom 2 with Superking (can be changed into twin beds on request). Family bathroom with bath, heated towel rail, handbasin and separate WC which is accessed through the bathroom.

Facilities & Services:  Linen and Towels. Oil CH. Wi-Fi Broadband. No smoking. 4 pets welcome. Smart TVs. Enclosed lawned garden with patio area. Highchair, travel cot and fixed stairgate. Complimentary basket of logs. Garden furniture. Private parking for 2/3 cars. Short breaks available. 3pm arrival time. Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Friday.

Reviews

This property is on a working farm. We expected there to be farm noise and yet it was a haven of tranquility. All we heard was birdsong and sheep! The property is huge. Nicely kitted out with lots of extras. We had packed some items from our kitchen thinking they would not be available. However, Marie had provided loo rolls, kitchen towel, bin bags, tin foil, cling film, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bubble bath and various other things. Cleanliness is something I always worry about with holiday rentals. However, this property was super clean. The beds were comfortable. The sofa was fantastic. The property is a 10 min drive from the A361, which is the main ‘A’ road through Devon. If your satnav suggests for you to take Gropy Lane on the way there, don’t!! It has a massive sign saying unsuitable for motor vehicles. The nearest supermarket is Sainsbury’s at South Molton. Alternatively, you can stop at Tesco in Tiverton on the way past. It’s about 25 minutes from Tiverton to the property. Little tip for the Wi-fi. If you want the smart TV functions to work, move the little internet hub from the kitchen and plug it in next to the TV! Then it all works like a charm. Overall, this property gave us a peaceful haven for a week. After working from home and not really getting a change of scenery for a long time, this property was ideal. I was super sad to be going home.

Mrs B,

To the manor born and if you were not spend a week or so in this stunning property to see what it feels like. The house is huge and fitted out with excellent quality furnishings and fittings. Directions to get to property accurate but as is located in very beautiful countryside is surrounded by very narrow roads do NOT go with your Sat Nav but exit for all trips out via the A361 unless you are feeling adventurous. Excellently placed for all manner of great days out in both Devon and Somerset and even Cornwall , Tintagel is amazing.

Miss S,

We have had a fabulous week staying at Nethercott Manor. Beautiful property with lovely walks. Our boys loved sharing a room. Such lovely owner too. Would highly recommend.

Previous Customer,

Exceedingly large property, Best we have stayed in the last 30 years. Very rural location but only 2 miles from main trunk road. Great views from Windows,Inc sheep and cattle. Walled garden is great for an evening aperitif. Stream and ford about 200 metre's away great for kid's to paddle. Easy parking in front of house. Nearest town South molton has an excellent pannier market. Couldn't fault it at all. Will definitely return.

Mr M,

On arrival this property was all we could have hoped for. Characterful, spacious and just perfect for us with our 4 dogs. Plenty of kitchen space and facilities. Very comfy bed - so a great night's sleep.

Mrs B,

We spent a lovely week at Nethercott Manor. Lovely comfy property with everything you would need . Enclosed garden perfect for our dogs. Highly recommended!

Mrs B,

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. It is incredibly spacious (there were just two of us), and the whole property just had a wonderful cosy feel in spite of the size. It was also delightfully quirky which is to be expected from a very old property. My Labradors loved the large garden, and we were ideally placed to explore both the North and South Devon coasts – and indeed both national parks. Marie the owner could not have done more to ensure we were both safe and comfortable, and quite frankly, we did not want to leave. If you want a traditional thatched (very large) cottage to stay in, then you cannot go wrong with Nethercott Manor. I could not fault either the property or the location. I certainly hope to return in the not too distant future.

Mrs N S,
