Nestled in one of the quaint old streets in Appledore, parallel to The Quay, you will find Phoenix Cottage; a charming 200-year-old cosy, but very spacious Victorian cottage.  Phoenix Cottage is a wonderful family home that comfortably sleeps six people and is perfectly situated for easy access to independent cafes, characterful pubs, excellent restaurants, art galleries and gift shops. 

Once inside you are welcomed by a spacious porch which has lots of room for boots and shoes.  The sitting room has ample comfortable seating, ambient lighting, original artwork and an electric ‘log burner effect’ fire, making cooler evenings feel warm and cosy.  The very well-equipped stylish kitchen diner has everything you’ll need to prepare meals for family suppers, which can be enjoyed together around the large oak dining table.  A large internal window into the lounge brings in extra light and makes the ground floor feel very spacious.  French doors lead onto the private courtyard area where you can enjoy al fresco meals during the warmer months.  Upstairs there are 3 good sized comfortable bedrooms and a very spacious bathroom with historic wooden floorboards – thought to be from an old ship’s decking!

Steeped in seafaring history Appledore has been a thriving traditional maritime village since the 14th century.  As well as being famous for its annual book festival it is also well known for its Regatta day every August and Pilot Gig racing throughout the year, and of course, not forgetting the youngster’s favourite pastime - crabbing on The Quay!  For those wanting to explore the other side of the Torridge estuary and spend the day on the beach, you can hop on the seasonal ferry for the short boat trip to Instow, which also has a good selection of restaurants, pubs and an award-winning delicatessen, Johns a family run business which also has a cafe and shop in Appledore.

Accommodation: Ground floor: Entrance porch with space for boots and shoes. Living room with electric 'log burner effect' fire, Smart TV with sound bar, DVD/Blueray player and a selection of DVDs and books. Under stairs cupboard for coats and storage.  Kitchen with range cooker - gas hob and two electric ovens, large fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine (guests to bring own pods) microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. First floor: Bedroom 1 with king size bed, bedroom 2 with king size bed, bedroom 3 with twins. Bathroom with large separate shower, bath, WC, basin and heated towel rail. Private enclosed courtyard with seating. Small outbuilding with has WC and basin and storage for crabbing buckets and fishing nets.

Facilities and services: Linen & towels. Gas CH. Wi Fi Broadband. No smoking. 1 well behaved pet welcome (2 by owners' agreement). Highchair, stair gate and travel cot available. No vehicular access, parking is available on the quay and in the public car park close by. Short breaks available. Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Saturday.
