Sitting literally on the waters edge this delightful former fishermans cottage offers panoramic views over the Torridge Estuary towards Instow, Northam Burrows and beyond to Braunton Burrows and the golden sands at Saunton in the far distance.  Situated on one of Appledore's colourful narrow streets this character cottage is in a great location to make the most of the village amenities. Small shops, cafes and characterful inns are scattered through the winding streets and along the quay and are all an easy stroll away. Laid out over 3 floors the ground floor has a country style kitchen at the front of the cottage and an open plan living/dining room at the rear to take full advantage of the most spectacular views. With large floor to ceiling windows this room is light and airy and the French windows will entice you out onto the enclosed patio that extends the living space. This is a great spot for alfresco dining, soaking up the sunsets or watching the boats bobbing on the ever changing tides of the estuary and sea birds feeding on the shore(fishing from the patio may also be possible at seasonal high tides!). Typical of a character cottage of this age the first and second floors are accessed by steep narrow stairs with a handrail on one side. Two cosy bedrooms – a twin at the rear with sea views and a compact double at the front together with a family shower room can be found on the first floor and on the second floor there is a double bedroom with ensuite facilities.  It will be difficult to tear yourself away from this cosy double bedroom with its large picture window offering extensive views over the Taw and Torridge estuaries and out to sea. With a small foot ferry to the beach, sand dunes and water sports centre at Instow you may find that you do not have to travel far to relax and enjoy the delights of these two estuary villages.  However there is plenty of other sights and activities all within a 20 minute drive including the huge expanse of surfing sands at Westward Ho! the famous fishing village of Clovelly along the rugged North Devon Coast, the family activity centres of The Milky Way and the Big sheep as well as RHS Garden Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal.

Accommodation: Ground floor: Living room /dining room with TV, DVD player, ipod doc, Wii and a selection of books and games. Second floor: Double with ensuite bathroom with bath, hand held shower over the bath, WC and wash basin

Facilities and services: Linen and towels. Gas CH. 1 pet welcome. WiFi. Regret no smoking. BBQ. Patio furniture. Children's fishing nets and beach equipment. Highchair, travel cot and stairgate available. Unloading possible and public car park is just 150yds. Short breaks available. Arr/Dep for weekly booking is Friday.  Please Note: steep stairs with a handrail lead up to the first floor, (which is typical of old Appledore cottages) and this does mean that the cottage is unsuitable for people with mobility issues.

Quebec is a lovely property, with a great view; watching the sun rise and set over the sea was fab. The cottage was comfy and cosy and had everything we needed. Northam Burrows is five minutes drive and perfect for dog walks, plus lovely to see the horses and sheep roaming.

Miss O,

The property was well located with easy access to local amenities and a lovely view from the garden and rear of the property. The neighbours were very friendly and welcoming which enhanced the holiday experience. The location is ideal to visit many other places and has a lovely coastal walk to Westward Ho! We also enjoyed a lovely visit to Clovelly which is an experience in itself and feels like being sent back in time. Appledore is a quaint and beautiful place with wonderful views and a warm and friendly atmosphere. We would highly recommend a visit to stay there.

Mrs K,

A gem of a house with views to die for. The kids loved crabbing from the garden at high tide. Comfy beds and duvets. A short walk into Appledore makes this the perfect holiday let.
