This lovely terraced cottage sits in one of Appledore’s most popular locations and offers the most wonderful views over the beautiful Taw and Torridge Estuary. The village is famous for its colourful narrow streets lined with flowers, seafaring character and its delightful setting makes it a favourite haunt of artists, craftsmen and writers. This former fisherman's cottage has been skilfully renovated to provide a stylish and comfortable holiday retreat and offers a mix of original character and contemporary style. Laid out over three floors much of the original character has been retained in the main part of the cottage whilst a rear extension offers a spacious and bright open plan living area. The front door opens into the middle level with a dining room at the front of the cottage and the open plan living room with Juliet balcony to enjoy the views and a newly fitted well equipped kitchen/breakfast room are at the rear.  Steep narrow stairs lead up to the first floor with two attractive bedrooms(one with estuary views) and a family bathroom. A modern staircase leads down from the living room to the lower ground floor where the master en-suite bedroom has French doors to rear courtyard offering estuary views. Access to the courtyard garden is also available via separate door from the lower ground floor hallway. The fully enclosed rear courtyard is a real gem with a raised decked area at the far end where you can experience the wonderful views and enjoy alfresco dining(Care should be taken with young children due to low wall). The courtyard directly overlooks the estuary waters where the ebb and flow of the tide provides a wonderful backdrop as sailing boats from the nearby Instow Yacht club, fishing boats and motor boats criss-cross the water and the antics of seagulls and cormorants keep you amused. A short walk from Rock Rose Cottage takes you down to the Quay, very central to village life, with shops, pubs, restaurants and galleries all along this thoroughfare as well as in the quaint cobbled narrow streets leading off . Within a short drive or ferry ride(main season only) of Instow this pretty estuary village offers a lovely sandy beach and access to the Tarka Trail, popular with walkers and cyclists. The popular surfing beach at Westward Ho! and Northam Burrows Park are just 10 minutes’ drive and great family attractions such as The Big Sheep and Milky Way are also within easy reach. So whether you want to relax and unwind and simply enjoy the unique views and simple delights of this historic fishing village or explore all that this area of North Devon has to offer Rock Rose Cottage is an ideal base no matter what the time of the year.

The cottage is in a perfect location walking distance into the town and between lots of really good pubs. The view from the lounge is gorgeous very relaxing.

Mrs H,

Fantastic location and great views across the estuary. Well equipped property.

Mr M,

A really lovely cottage with an always changing view from the windows. Somewhere to just chill, unwind, saunter into Appledore for a few items. Everything was so clean and the rooms were filled with light even on a dull day. Just perfect for us with 95 year old mum, an easy walk into the shops. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Ms B,

We have just had a lovely week at Rock Rose Cottage. The house was kitted out to an extremely high standard and have everything that we needed. The weather was not particularly kind to us but we found enough to do in the surrounding area. We will definitely be back.

Mr D,
