For surfers and beach lovers, the golden sands of Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe are a huge draw and easily accessible from here – all within 11 miles . The nearby Braunton Burrows are reputed to be England's biggest sand dune system and their lunar appearance is quite unusual when viewed from afar. They are a haven for nature and wildlife and a fascinating place to walk. Cyclists will also enjoy the Tarka Trail which runs for some 30 miles through the scenic North Devon countryside. Bikes can be hired from Braunton or Barnstaple.
