Tucked away in the small village of Knowle, you’ll be just over a mile from Braunton which has a fabulous choice of pubs, restaurants and shops. This single-storey accommodation offers a perfect base to enjoy the fabulous beaches and stunning scenery of North Devon. Return to your cottage and enjoy a BBQ in the courtyard or relax on the lawn as the kids relish the play equipment.

Set alongside the owner's own home, every thought has been given to ensure guests are made very welcome. The attractive modern dining room/kitchen has wonderful views over the countryside and is perfect for leisurely breakfasts whilst planning the day ahead. A stylish and cosy living room has a TV with a BluRay player for relaxing evenings. From here, patio doors lead into a sun lounge with comfortable wicker chairs. Then you can move into the completely private and fully enclosed rear terrace. Here, guests can enjoy a BBQ, relax in the sun or wind down with a glass of wine in the evening. Younger members of the family are free to share the owner’s own garden complete with a trampoline and play equipment. At the end of the day snuggle down in two beautifully presented bedrooms, a double with a TV, and a twin. Both rooms are served by a modern family bathroom.

A popular pub serving a good choice of menu is just over 300 metres away, but if you want more choice, the large village of Braunton is 1.5 miles south. Here, you’ll find shops, restaurants, bars and the Museum of British Surfing. You’ll also be able to access Braunton Burrows, a massive network of sand dunes that makes for a great walk or a day of sand surfing. If you prefer your sand next to lapping waves, the popular beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are all within 7 miles. However you like to spend your days, whether it’s surfing, cycling, walking or just relaxing on the beach, this delightful retreat is great to come home to.

Superb find of a holiday property. Location, location, location. Karen and Colin - a hard working couple that do everything for a pristine, comfortable property offered to a high standard - with every detail and consideration thought of. Extremely kind and generous welcome pack, appreciated. In your search - book The Retreat before someone else doeRead mores. Local area - the lanes often directed by the sat nav are to be avoided, stick to the main roads, the lanes are less than 2m wide, high hedges, same applies to lanes at Lorna Doone Valley and Lee Beach. The stunning Hidden Valley on doorstep is perfect for morning coffee, cream tea, meals / drinks on the terrace and dog friendly. Great for National Trust members, Arlington Court and privately owned Marwood Hill Gardens. Lots to do - will be back to Karen and Colin . Hide

Owner was next door and was very friendly and loved dogs. The property was spotlessly clean and very well stocked. There were a few nice touches when we arrived, a fruit cake, a box of delicious biscuits, treats for the dogs, packet of tea, tin of coffee and milk in the fridge. The garden was secure for the dogs.
