In a picturesque coastal setting Garden Cottage is one of two romantic cottages at Saltdene, Combe Martin.  Saltdene comprises of  Ancient Thatch Cottage (the owners own home) a 16th Century Grade II Listed cottage and romantic Love Cottage (sleeps 2). All are set in four and a half acres of beautiful meadow and woodland, the grounds overlooking Combe Martin Bay. Newberry Beach, a smaller beach in the bay is just a stones throw away from the bottom of the drive. This popular coastal village is steeped in history and offers a good choice of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops, which are 300m away.

For keen walkers the South West Coast Path runs past Saltdene with exhilarating walks and breathtaking views along the coast. Exmoor National Park is on your doorstep with many beauty spots, all just a scenic drive away, including Lynton & Lynmouth linked by the famous cliff railway.

The front door opens into the kitchen/dining space where you will find a stone fireplace with electric effect woodburner, kitchen area with electric cooker, microwave and fridge with ice box. From this room the staircase leads upstairs to a bedroom (which has a Superking bed, can be two singles) and a seating area. In the bedroom, four steps lead down to a small rear hallway, off which the bathroom is located. A decked patio area on two levels with inset pillar lighting is just outside the rear hallway and can double as a boot room. The cottage's garden is enclosed with a small sloped lawn area and offers you another place in which to unwind.

Please note: Given Garden Cottage's unique coastal location, guests are advised to keep pets on a lead when enjoying the grounds as part of the boundary is made up of sea cliffs.

First floor: Bedroom 1 with Superking (zip & link can be two singles, please request at time of booking), small sitting area. 4 steps down  to Ensuite bathroom with bath and shower attachment, WC (saniflow) and basin. Access to fields and meadow available to all guests. No smoking. Garden Furniture. No short breaks.  Arr/Dep for weekly bookings is Friday.

Never visited this part of Devon before, despite being regular holiday makers there. What a spot it was - perfectly placed for good walks, activities or just relaxing. The cottage was perfect for two and the owners very welcoming. Some delightful touches on our welcome and equipped with everything you need. A fantastic week; we will certainly be booking it again.

Mr S,

We loved our stay at Garden Cottage. It lived up to every expectation, even when it rained it was a joy. Our hosts were wonderfully helpful and friendly without being at all intrusive. 100% recommended!

Mr A,

Amazing property... Perfect spot.. We will be back.

Mr G,

Garden Cottage was ‘just the ticket’ for our holiday in North Devon. Perfectly situated next to a small cove it provides all you need for a very comfortable, homely stay. The log burner was a lovely addition in the evenings as we cooked in most nights due to the present COVID restrictions. Thank you, Bruce and Elaine, for your welcome (the complimentary cream tea was very well received!) and for your helpful suggestions.

Mrs Friend,
