Beach Cottage is a beautifully presented, well maintained and welcoming property located opposite one of the area’s finest surfing beaches. The popular village of Croyde, with its choice of family friendly pubs, restaurants and small shops is just a short walk away, whilst beach equipment and surf lessons are available to book nearby. As well as spending time on the fantastic beach, the family can also have great fun at the adjacent indoor pool with rapids, slides and flumes (fee applicable). This property is ideal for families but has a reduced rate for smaller groups and couples to enjoy surfing or coastal walks outside of the main season.

Entering through the front gate from the parking area you emerge into a small, private, well maintained secret garden containing mature hedges and shrubs interspersed with charming statues and lawn area. There is a side door to the left of the property giving access to the rear garden and the main entrance ahead of you leads into the heart of the house. From the moment you walk through the front door you will feel welcome, with a home away from home feel. The wood floor hall creates a pleasant entrance with a large concealed cupboard providing ideal storage for coats, shoes etc. Further along a large bookcase is packed with a great selection of books and stands next to a handy full length mirror. An additional under-stairs cupboard provides further storage for highchair and domestic equipment. The hall also provides access to a convenient downstairs shower room, with walk-in shower, WC and basin.

Leading off from the hall the good size, well equipped kitchen is light and airy with feature wall, plenty of storage and useful work space. This sociable room also contains a glass top dining table with chairs ideal for chatting about the days’ activities during meal preparation before enjoying a delicious meal together. The kitchen leads through to a versatile utility room containing laundry facilities, however additional attention to detail continues with the provision of wooden racks for storing and drying surfing equipment and even different coloured trugs for individual wetsuits plus an assortment of beach games.

The spacious, attractive living room has 3 leather sofas and separate comfy chair all surrounding the large coffee table. A beautiful bay window allows light to flood in whilst giving views out to the garden. Careful colour co-ordinated furnishings create a stylish, comfortable environment in which to relax. For family fun the large sideboard contains a wide selection of games, with smart TV and sound bar.

Stairs from the hallway lead up to 3 bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. A large frosted window floods the staircase and landing with natural light – reflecting off the quirky pint glass lampshades! On the spacious landing a comfy leather chair, table and lamp are conveniently situated waiting invitingly for that someone just needing a quiet few minutes.

Bedroom 1 is a king. The room is carefully co-ordinated and complimented by a local wall-mounted print. This good size room has pleasant matching furniture, including dress mirror, wardrobe and dressing table. Views from here reach as far as the sea – a good vantage point from which to ponder the question – is it good for surfing…or do I have a lie in! Bedroom 2 is a pleasant, versatile room, with padded headboards, pretty, blue furnishings and the matching accessories blend perfectly in a crisp, clean design; featured as a twin but with zip ‘n’ link facility to super-king on request. Bedroom 3 is also a twin. This light and airy room has views over the garden and incorporates plenty of storage.

The simple, crisp colours continue through to the spacious family bathroom. Here you will find a shower over the roomy double ended bath with glass shower screen, large wash basin and WC.

Outside the raised decked area is an ideal suntrap and provides a relaxing environment with sun loungers and patio furniture to enjoy alfresco meals. Potted ferns, tropical plants and a built-in barbecue, combine to make this a great space to socialise with family and friends after a day on the beach. A handy outdoor cold shower is perfect for rinsing off surfboards and sandy toes whilst the sun deck is great for relaxing with a drink whilst looking back over the day’s activities or for planning the next day’s adventures.

If you enjoy walking take the coastal path to Baggy Point owned by the National Trust which is at the end of the lane and offers spectacular views, then after, why not reward yourself with a Devon cream tea at the local tearooms. The beauty of Exmoor with its ever-changing flora and fauna is a scenic half an hours’ drive away. Here you can explore historical villages and quaint hamlets whilst never being far from the stunning Devon coastline.

All in all, Beach Cottage is a lovely homely property, well cared for with little added extras to make your stay even more enjoyable.  A perfect location for a memorable holiday shared with family or friends.

Mrs Margaret E,

Beach Cottage is beautiful inside and out. We have stayed in Croyde many times but this was by far the best location for the beach.

Mrs Michelle S,

Have visited this property for several years with my family and in addition to its location we love the fact that it feels like a home, with extra touches of artwork which make us all feel very welcome and comfortable
