Located in East Down and surrounded by stunning countryside sits this charming one-bedroom cottage. Overlooking a stream, this is a gem of a place and ideal for a couple wanting to immerse themselves in nature.

Simple, fresh tones sweep through the interior adding to the sense of tranquillity. After a long day exploring, kick-off boots in the hallway and step into the lounge, and relax on the plump sofa. Swathed in natural light, it’s pleasantly furnished and you’ll soon feel right at home. The kitchen overlooks the lounge so you can chat to your loved one as you prepare a delicious dinner and then serve it at the intimate table for two. When it’s time for bed, whitewashed walls sweep through to the double bedroom and with nothing here to disturb you, you’ll drift off to sleep with ease. In the morning, enjoy an invigorating shower before stepping outside to the courtyard. Feel your spirits lift as you listen to the birdsong and gurgling stream. Afterwards, explore the two acres of grounds with its walking paths, lake, and wildlife.

A private lake is right on your doorstep and is a lovely spot for a picnic. Alternatively, spend the day fishing and soaking up the tranquil setting. Further afield, nature lovers can explore Exmoor National Park or visit the Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre (9 miles) and get up close to leopards, marmosets, and lemurs. For a day at the beach, head to Woolacombe Beach (10 miles) and enjoy a swim in the clear waters, or jump on the coastal path and make the 2.5-mile walk to Morte Point.

We were very happy with our stay, the hosts were very helpful and friendly. The cottage was excellent, clean and well maintained. Perhaps the price was a little on the high side but other than that we have no complaints.

Ideal as in close proximity of places to visit and very quiet and relaxing location situated in the grounds of East Down Mill for sitting on the patio outside the cottage listening to the stream and birds singing.
