This spacious, comfortable and well-equipped house is a great place to stay at all times of the year. With many beautiful beaches nearby, proximity to the Southwest Coastal Path and a big garden, it is the perfect venue for a classic summer holiday. In wintertime the large, warm, beautifully furnished kitchen, dining room and sitting room give guests ample space to relax.
The house has been recently refurbished to a high standard. Whilst retaining much of its grand Edwardian character and quality it is also a very practical space with areas to hang wet beachwear, line up dirty wellies, and get warm and dry after the beach or a muddy walk. The large kitchen with double oven and walk in larder makes catering for a big group easy. Guests can enjoy sitting at the breakfast bar or around the large dining table.
It’s a great place for a big group including children who love to play hide and seek throughout the house and garden. There are board games, a smart TV, good Wi-Fi connection and a baby grand piano. Bedrooms are comfortable with high quality mattresses and luxury white linen whilst the three newly fitted out bath/shower rooms ensure guest’s comfort. Outside there is a large patio area, big lawn and plenty of games, garden chairs, a picnic table and barbeque as well as off street parking for up to three cars.
Ilfracombe is well situated for those who love beaches, walking and places of interest. The historic Tunnels Beaches are 15 minutes walk from the house where you can hire a deckchair and enjoy the sheltered cove with stunning views of the rugged cliffs, a tidal swimming pool and amazing rock pools. The white sands of Woolacombe and Croyde are a short car journey away – wonderful for building sandcastles, hiring a wetsuit and learning to surf. These beaches, and many others in the area, are manned by lifeguards in the summer months.
Walking along the Southwest Coastal Path in either direction will bring you to secluded coves, lighthouses and many stunning views of the coast and its wildlife. As well as looking after much of the coast path the National Trust own several local properties worth a visit.
Further attractions include Ilfracombe’s historic harbour from which you can take a boat along the coast or to Lundy Island. Children may enjoy visiting the Ilfracombe lifeboat and the wonderful small aquarium focusing on local river and coastal habitats.
Ilfracombe has a wide variety of attractions including the famous Tunnels Beaches and Damien Hirst's Verity. Boat trips can be taken from the historic harbour where you will also find a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Lee Bay for rockpools and Woolacombe for surfing are a short distance along the coast. The house is close to the Cairn former railway line walk, and the Torrs Walks, part of the 600mile long South West Coastal Path is on the doorstep.
The entrance hall of the house has magnificent period floor tiles and part of the family collection of porcelain is on display. The family have a musical tradition, and guests are invited to play the grand piano in the living room. At the rear of the house, the dining room with large table for up to ten guests, is adjacent to the newly fitted modern kitchen and both rooms provide ample living space. The kitchen has a central breakfast bar and just next to the kitchen is the pantry, the utility room with washing machine and a new shower room.
Climbing up the grand staircase and just off the landing are four attractive spacious bedrooms. A King and Twin at the front plus a Superking and Double at the rear. The rear bedrooms look out over the roof tops to the ocean in the distance. The bedrooms offer period features and furniture and a mix of artwork and historic prints including works by the artist Nik Pollard, R.A., SWLA, which can be purchased. All bedrooms are served by a modern bathroom plus a separate shower room and an additional upstairs WC. All bedrooms have decorative rather than working fireplaces.
The good size garden has a large lawn as well as planted mature borders. There is a picnic table and additional garden chairs, a barbecue and a rotary clothes drier. For summer play there are bats and balls but take care with the greenhouse! There is provision for secure storage of bicycles and surfboards. There is also a sun trap recess at the front of the house with a table and chairs. There is driveway parking behind the gates for up to 3 cars.
With spacious comfortable accommodation and presented with a mix of period and modern furnishings, the semi-detached Edwardian House is ideal for large families or groups of friends at any time of year.

Lovely house. Very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The owners seemed to have thought of everything needed in a holiday property.
The pre holiday info and arrival details were great. The house itself was perfect for our first family holiday since COVID 19. Everything was spotless which made us feel very safe. It was great it have secure off road parking too.
Lovely week away for Easter in this beautiful house. We really enjoyed the piano and having big family dinners at the dining table! Brilliant to be so close to the SW coastal path for some walks. Thank you!
