Description

Farthings Nest provides a great holiday base for those looking to explore this part of North Devon. The annexe is located half a mile up the hill from Ilfracombe's main High Street, with its wide choice of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops, the harbour and other town attractions are just beyond this. A trip out in the car will be a must for those looking for spectacular coastal scenery, sandy beaches, rugged coves and inspiring coastal and Exmoor walks. The ground floor annexe was completed to a high standard in July 2014 and its elevated position provides garden views across the town and coastline towards the National Trust Torrs. A short level walk through the garden gate takes you to the private entrance. Inside feels calm and welcoming with a coastal theme throughout. A short corridor off the main living area leads off to the bedroom and around the corner is the very spacious split-level bathroom. There is also a storage cupboard provided. Part of the garden directly in front of the living room window is set aside for guests use. Here you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine and plan your next day's adventure, out and about in this beautiful part of Devon.

Reviews

Farthing’s Nest is a gorgeous property with fabulous views over the sea. The sunsets can be spectacular. It’s located on the edge of Ilfracombe so makes a good base for exploring the area. It’s a ground floor flat, rather than a cottage, with a secluded garden. It’s very well appointed & decorated, comfortable and quiet. We had everything we needed for our holiday. The walk up from the town is steep in places but worth it for the views. The owners live next door; they are very friendly & welcoming. They gave us some good ideas of places to visit & things to do locally which we appreciated. They provided a useful welcome hamper with tea, coffee & milk plus scones, cream & jam which was well received after our journey. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Previous Customer,

"We stayed at Farthings Nest for a week on 28/5/22. The Ground floor apartment is in an elevated position with lovely sea view of Ilfracombe. It’s in a quiet residential area, 2mins drive from the centre of Ilfracombe. The apartment is light airy and spacious, with views to the sea from the bedroom and lounge. The apartment had everything we needed, and the outside space had a garden, 2 sun loungers, table and chairs, great for watching sunsets. It was a beautiful apartment and we felt totally at home and relaxed for the whole of our stay."

John M,

My husband and I enjoyed an extremely comfortable week in The Farthings Nest in May 2022. The property is very spacious with large rooms and was spotlessly clean. Great view of the sea from both the sitting room and bedroom. Furniture and fittings are of a high standard with very comfortable sofas and bed. Towels and bedding are of a high quality with plenty of cushions and homely touches. The welcome hamper containing afternoon tea was a well appreciated added touch after our journey. I can honestly say it was the best place we have stayed in out of the many UK trips we have made since coming out of Covid lockdown and neither Mick or I wanted to come home! Warmest thanks to Steph and Mick for making our stay such a treat.

Past Customer,

Excellent accommodation. Extremely well equipped and tastefully decorated. Owners were very welcoming and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Mr P,

We had a super week thank you and the accommodation was perfect.

Past Customer,

Communications were excellent from booking to arrival. The location of the property provides for fantastic views across to Wales and down to the town. The property lives up to it's description and the owners were available and happy to provide tips on places to visit. The welcome pack and flowers were a great touch. Plenty of great walks in the area and some lovely places to visit. Fathings Nest is in a lovely quiet spot, and provides everything you need to enjoy your holiday in Ilfracombe. The walk down to the harbour is quite steep - a taxi back may be needed if you find hills a problem!

Previous Customer,

Very well appointed property, spotlessly clean and with a great view across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Well placed for exploring Ilfracombe and North Devon. The hosts kept us well informed about garden building work that slipped into our visit but made sure it had minimal impact on our stay.

Mr B,

Farthings Nest was impeccably clean and beautifully staged for our arrival. We were greeted with a welcome hamper, and flowers from the owner, Steph, who simply could not do enough for us to make it a wonderful stay. The property is joined to the owners, but remains private. It is on a very hilly estate but this allows for breathtaking sea views from both the bedroom and living room. We used the cottage as a base from which to explore Devon, and didn’t have to go too far for some beautiful coastal walks and a range of National Trust properties. Unfortunately, we didn’t have great weather when we were there (February) but this didn’t matter as the cottage had everything to provide a cosy afternoon/evening in, and facilities to wash/dry clothes when muddied up. I cannot recommend this property enough - excellent value for money, and just a beautiful property! The photos on the website did not do it justice!

mrs S,

Very friendly hosts. The property was spotless and well equipped & presented, with lovely sea views. It's a steep walk down to the town centre, but taxis are available for the way home. We'll be back.

Mr C,

We have been to this wonderful apartment year after year it is a lovely home from home we feel relaxed and it is our happy place

Mrs L,

The homeowners were the perfect hosts ensuring we had everything we needed. The property was light airy and very comfortable with lovely views. We would certainly recommend this property and are looking forward to our return visit.

Mr H,

Could not believe how lovely the property was, spacious, spotlessly clean, wonderful views to the sea, peaceful, everything we wanted. Loved it.could not have wished for anything better.

Ms B,

Very good apartment with lovely views Would highly recommend

Mr W,

Farthings Nest is a spacious property for a couple and very comfortable and clean with good views over Ilfracombe to the sea. Only disadvantage is that it is quite a walk back up the hill if you decide not to take the car down to the seafront, but at least we've kept fit despite indulging in fish and chips and cream teas. Property owners are on-site and were keen to ensure everything was ok and that we were having a good holiday without being intrusive. The welcome pack was comprehensive (everything you could possibly need for several cream teas!) and well received. We hope to be back in due course.

Mr B,

The top quality apartment with a modern and smart interior, which was also tastefully decorated, sits in an elevated position above the town. The garden gives lovely sea and town views and is safe for sitting out in the evening. Hosts very friendly and helpful if needed.

Mrs A,

We had a lovely holiday at this gorgeous apartment. Everything you could need and all such good quality. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge! The view from the lounge and private patio were beautiful , we sat out in the evening with a glass of wine and watched the sun set. If you are not walkers and don't wish to use the car it is a steep walk back up from the seafront, hence the wonderful views. Steph and Mick were very friendly and welcoming and the fresh flowers and the ingredients for a cream tea were lovely. All in all a great place to stay and lots of lovely places to visit close by.

Mrs M,

We have just spent a very enjoyable week at Farthings Nest. The accommodation was very clean and well equipped with a beautiful bathroom and very comfortable bed. There are excellent views of the sea and hills from the lounge window. There are lots of places nearby to visit for great walks as well as Ilfracombe itself. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again if visiting this area.

Mr N,

Warm and cosy property with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The owners were welcoming and friendly. Lovely views of the sunset over the interesting town of Ilfracombe.

Miss C,

We had a lovely time at Farthings Nest. Everything was clean as new and good working order. Great location and view. Steph and Mick are good hosts too!

Past Customer,

We have just had a week in Farthings Nest, it was spotlessly clean cosy and warm. It was a bonus having nice weather and watching lovely sunsets over the sea most evenings. Steph was very welcoming when we arrived. Definitely will return to this apartment again
