A most unique and unusual home, The Round House sits next to the Cairn Nature Reserve enjoying extensive views over the town and out towards the Bristol Channel. Approached by a sweeping drive and surrounded by its own beautifully landscaped and private gardens (as featured in Devon Life Aug 2014) it has been a frequent winner of "Ilfracombe in Bloom". Built in 1910 by a local builder who had been set the challenge of constructing a completely round home, all rooms are spacious and primarily regular in shape, boasting a wealth of period features. Best of all, an unusual rotunda room at the very top of the building offers impressive 360 degree views. A stunning turreted entrance porch and double doors open into the hallway with parquet flooring, feature ceiling and gothic style doors.

The spacious living room has excellent views, chandeliers and arts and crafts period oak fireplace. The dining room is complemented with an Adam style fireplace and an impressive ornate oak table that accommodates family gatherings. A separate compact kitchen has an adjoining breakfast room, and substantial utility room providing storage. There is also a convenient ground floor cloakroom with shower. There are five bedrooms in total on the first floor with bedroom one having an adjacent separate 'snug' TV room. All the bedrooms are served by an unusual art deco style bathroom. On the first floor there is an additional staircase which leads up to the rotunda room and newly renovated roof terrace. The rotunda room itself provides a third TV and seating area with table football and allows access onto the roof terrace complete with safety balustrade. Both the rotunda room and the roof terrace provides guests with stunning 360 degree views of Ilfracombe and the sea out towards the Bristol Channel.  Guests enjoying the roof terrace will find seating and a dining table to maximise their experience.

A private terrace overlooks the gardens, and trees shrubs and fernery adorn several lawn areas. In an elevated position to take full advantage of the lovely sea views a comfortably furnished summerhouse/cabin with power is a recent addition to the garden. A small dwelling at the top of the garden with its own private access and garden is set aside for the owners occasional use.

A unique house in a great location. Lobster from the harbour fish shop was perfect on the barbecue.

Ms B,

This beautiful property made our holiday magical. Although it is of an extremely high quality with lots of lovely furniture and ornaments it was very homely and my young grandaughter loved the dolls house. The house was perfect so comfortable and well equipped. The food terrace was a relaxing place for us older members of the family to relax but was safe and child friendly. The owners are born hosts and made us feel really welcome and as if the beautiful gardens weren't enough they even let me have some edible flowers from their own garden. Perfect is the only word I can use to describe house. My grandaughter said "nothing is perfect but this place is very close"
