Description

One of three charming holiday cottages tucked away at the end of a private, unmade farm track on a 47-acre farm, in a sunny valley, surrounded by panoramic views, woodlands, a river and rolling pastures. This lovely cottage is perfect for a family or doggie getaway in North Devon.  It is within Exmoor National Park, close to pretty Parracombe village and very close to the coast, with lots of walks, some along some of the highest sea cliffs in the UK, and amazing beaches to discover.

Pack binoculars and wellies because the farm is home to red deer, bats, buzzards, owls and otters.  Exmoor ponies roam the moors.  There are plenty of identification books and kits for you in your cottage.  Build a den, fly a kite or welly walk the river. Footpaths lead from your door to the sea at Heddon’s Mouth or onto the moors, and there are plenty of guide books and maps for you to use.  Beaches, pubs and shops are extremely dog (and child)-friendly!

On the coast are the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth with their world famous cliff-railway linking the two towns, the Valley of the Rocks which is home to a colony of wild goats and Combe Martin with its beach and amazing network of rock pools – great for kayaking too.  Exmoor Zoo, Woody Bay Steam Train, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Watermouth Castle are all just a short drive away.  Take a fishing boat from Lynmouth or Ilfracombe, a day trip to wonderful Lundy Island nature reserve or surf all day at nearby Woolacombe or Croyde. Cycle the Tarka Trail. There are many more beautiful and historical places of interest nearby – Arlington Court, The Heddon Valley, Dunster Castle to name just a few.  Or admire the Milky Way right here on the farm in Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve.

Mole Cottage has a level access from the parking area into the open plan kitchen/living room with lovely views across the valley. Comfy seating surrounds the wood burner which provides a cosy atmosphere in the cooler seasons. Evening entertainment is taken care of with a Smart TV and large collection of DVDs, toys and games available to borrow. The fully-fitted kitchen and dining area comes well-equipped with a farmhouse-style dining table, a gas oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, and a dishwasher. The accommodation also offers three bedrooms; on the ground floor off the kitchen is a twin bedroom which contains single-four poster beds constructed from original grain bins, and an en-suite shower room with WC.  The double and second twin bedrooms can be found on the lower ground floor along with the family bathroom.

There are lots of on-site facilities for you to enjoy including a children’s outdoor picnic/play area with a Wendy house and small climbing frame. In the shared enclosed, grassy courtyard is a shared games barn equipped with table tennis, large & small snooker tables, skittles, croquet and many more toys and games. The courtyard has garden furniture and is perfect for playing outdoor games, picnicking or a quiet read.  There is a fenced orchard/meadow for dogs off lead, with a shared patio area complete with gas BBQ and chiminea, that enjoys spectacular views across the beautiful valley.

**For larger families or groups of friends wishing to holiday together there are two further holiday cottages available each sleeping 4, Mill Cottage and Brambley Bottom.

Accommodation: Ground floor: Kitchen with dining table, gas oven and hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Living area with Smart TV, DVD and wood burner. Selection of books, games and DVDs. Twin room with en-suite shower room WC and handbasin. Stairs to lower ground floor; Double, Twin and bathroom with shower over bath, heated towel rail, WC and basin. Access to shared utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and overhead drying rack.

Reviews

Thank you fo a lovely stay, a good start to our retirement together. A nice, quiet home from home. Lovely and peaceful setting in a beautiful cottage and lovely company.

Vickers Family,

Cosy and homely base for our family visit to Devon. We really loved the cottage and the set up was perfect for us being a 3 generation family. We loved the added touch of high chair and travel cot availability which made our stay much easier. We also loved the play barn and play area which entertained our 2 year old. The cottage was a really lovely break from everyday life in it secluded nature-'far from the madding crowd' would recommend and definitely come back. Thank you

Previous Customer,

Wow factor - Charm, character and a real upmarket country feel. Found lots of local trips, which when catering for a 4 year old to an 80 year old can be difficult! The dogs also settled in well and loved exploring the surrounding fields and woodland. Lovely touches in the property and we were made to feel very welcome but Peter and Carey. A lovely holiday, thank you, we would live to come back.

Dean Family,

First impressions were wonderful, a beautiful cottage in a wooded world. Hearing the bird song was lovely. We've had all the comforts from home, the beds are great! It's been a great base to go out and about from, and we have used the ideas for outings. Having the laundry room was a real bonus, with 3 children! Thank you for your hospitality and a great welcome with the eggs, butter, bacon it was a lovely surprise. We would happily come back again and recommend to friends.

Simons family,

All 5 of us had a brilliant stay at Mole Cottage thank you! The cottage is beautifully equipped and the bacon, egg, butter and bread on arrival after a long trip was greatly appreciated! This was a perfect base to explore North Devon and we very much look forward to returning. You were both great hosts and our girls are already missing the dogs!
