North Devon Coast Cottages

Explore the North Devon coastline and you will discover wild and dramatic cliffs, endless sandy beaches lined with sand dunes, rocky coves, spectacular waterfalls and picturesque wooded combes and valleys. Designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty this stretch of North Devon Coastline is easily travelled by walking along the South West Coast Path which hugs the shoreline.

It doesn’t matter what age you are, The North Devon coast offers something for everyone. Whether it’s building sandcastles or paddling in the sea, surfing the UK’s most impressive rollers, catching mackerel on a boat trip, stepping out on a stunning stretch of coastal path, or enjoying a pint in a pretty pub, North Devon delivers it all – and so much more.

There are plenty of villages and towns dotted across this picturesque coastline, making it easy to find a North Devon holiday cottage to suit your needs and budget. From small picture-postcard villages with great pubs, small fishing villages with boats bobbing around in the harbour to larger seaside towns suitable for fun family holidays.

Coastal Devon is known for its sandy beaches and hidden coves. Many of our coastal cottages enjoy fine views over the Atlantic or Bristol Channel with balconies to enjoy a BBQ or glass of cool, crisp white wine as the sun goes down.

Woolacombe, Putsborough, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Westward Ho! are great places to catch the last few rays. As some of our favourite beach resorts, they have good access, lots of space, clean water and facilities for surfing, kayaking and, of course, enjoying the very best of beach life. By that we mean ice creams, fish and chips and sandcastle building. Woolacombe, as one of the UK’s ‘best beaches’ even hosts a sandcastle building championship, whilst Croyde is world famous for its waves and Saunton is a heaven for those who like wide open spaces. To the south of the river, Westward Ho! offers more space in the form of the Northam Burrows Country Park as well as some of the more traditional aspects of a British summer holiday.

Away from the main beach resorts you’ll find our cottages in quaint fishing villages like Appledore, Combe Martin, Instow, Lynmouth or even down secluded lanes like those at Peppercombe. These are the hidden gems, the holiday accommodation that’s perfect for walkers, dog owners and those who like to wake up to the sound of seagulls, in quiet valleys or just yards from busy harbours. Lynmouth, on the edge of Exmoor, sits at the end of a deep wooded river valley where the walking is excellent, whilst Combe Martin has hidden beaches, festivals galore and the longest high street in Great Britain! Appledore and Instow, twin villages on either side of the River Torridge and close to its confluence with the River Taw, both have quiet back lanes, good pubs, sands to walk the dog and great views of each other. A summer ferry will take you there and back to see how the other half live!

We are sure that our collection of self-catering cottages listed below, in the stunning villages and towns of the North Devon coastline will make your holiday to this beautiful part of the region extra special.
