A charming stone cottage with wonderful views over the beautiful Taw Valley offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. Sleeping six guests and one dog, it is set in a quiet country lane, yet within 3 miles of two pretty villages. This spacious detached cottage is ideally placed for a family or group of friends to discover Devon’s diverse scenic beauty. The colourful riverside market town of Barnstaple is 12 miles away, with splendid surf beaches such as Westward Ho! and the magnificent Exmoor National Park within reach.

Comfortable and beautifully furnished in a blend of traditional and contemporary style, the cottage is light and bright, with a lovely rural outlook throughout. On the ground floor, a large, country-style kitchen and dining area open to a cosy snug. A double bedroom and pretty shower room complete this floor. Upstairs, the living room features a wood burner and French doors to a small balcony, giving far-reaching views. The first floor also houses a family bathroom and two attractive bedrooms: a king with a wonderful en-suite bathroom, and a twin room. Outside, the enclosed garden has a sheltered patio for dining outside.

The nearby villages of High Bickerton and Burrington both have traditional pubs serving home-cooked food, while Barnstaple, renowned for its historic Pannier Market, has restaurants, shops and excellent museums. Enjoy walks alongside the River Taw in pretty Rock Park, which also houses a skate park and adventure playground. Another market town, picturesque Bideford (13 miles), sits on the estuary of the River Torridge. Enjoy boat trips on the Torridge from the quaint fishing village of Appledore, a further 3.5 miles away. The beautiful gardens at RHS Rosemoor are within 11 miles, and the vast sands of Westward Ho! Beach (18 miles) include a dog-friendly section.

Really nice property in a good location. You have the option of upstairs and downstairs living, loads of room and nice size bedrooms Property was really well looked after from kitchen to bathrooms

Northcote lodge is a fantastic place. Furnished to a high standard with everything you need, the kitchen is very well equipped. The surrounding area is stunning with a lovely little quirky old pub just down the lane. Well placed for exploring the beauty of North Devon .

Overall an excellent property for a comfortable and peaceful break. The hot water was far too hot, thats why we havent given that question a full 5, but otherwise everything was wonderful.
