Description

On a former working dairy farm in the heart of the Devon countryside, The Granary is a lovingly restored stone barn conversion completed to a high standard in 2014.  We think guests will find the accommodation full of character, well equipped and with the added bonus of an outdoor jacuzzi hot tub in the walled garden. From the Granary and just under 1.5 miles away down the quiet farm lane, brings you to the village Inn in Muddiford, offering both bar and restaurant facilities to hungry and thirsty guests. There are a number of activities such as horse riding, shooting and fishing on offer in the local area for those wishing to add to countryside rambles or days on the beach. The impressive vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams combine with a mixture of slate and oak flooring to provide a delightful living space. The well-equipped country cream kitchen area complete with butler sink is next to the Juliette balcony which overlooks the sheltered enclosed garden, with countryside views beyond.  If you are not outside barbecuing, why not plan your next day's activities over an evening meal at the oak dining table or relax in the comfy reclining leather seats.  A solid wooden staircase leads down to the attractively presented bedrooms, located at each end of the barn, both with ensuite facilities. On this lower level, three sets of stunning doors all open out onto the patio and a good size lawn sits within the sheltered walls. The outdoor jacuzzi hot tub is sure to prove a favourite throughout the year. Not too far from the edge of Exmoor National Park and yet within driving distance of the golden surf beaches and rugged coastline of North Devon, the Granary provides a superb rural holiday base for couples, friends and family. Please note the farm is home to a fine collection of vintage tractors which the owners father will be happy to show any enthusiasts (on request), also that the neighbouring farm is a working farm and also that from time to time the adjacent yard is used for loading/unloading.

Reviews

What a fantastic property and in such a beautiful location just what we were looking for, plenty of walks accompanied by Reggie the dog for company. Would I recommend this property absolutely in a heart beat, will we be back yes next year.

Mr E,

We had a very comfortable stay at The Granary. The property was well equipped with everything you needed. We had a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates on the table when we arrived which was a nice welcoming touch. It was a peaceful location and the countryside view from the window was lovely. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs and the hot tub was very relaxing.

Mr T,

Excellent thought to details, such as welcome wine, stair gate, dog poo bin. Beautiful setting, exceptionally peaceful and excellent hot tub. A beautiful property with thoughtful hosts! Thankyou.

Mrs R,

Summary. It's a stunning property, with lovely views that feels quite isolated (in a peaceful way) even though you are 12mins drive to food shops in Barnstaple. Ideal for two couples or a family of 4 (providing kids happy to share a bed). Lots to explore too, with beaches about 15mins away and walks too. It's a great little oasis of calm to come back to. Views at night of an unpolluted sky are mesmerising. Book it, you won't be disappointed.

mr R,

Such a lovely holiday at The Granary! The highlight was definitely the gorgeous hot tub and the scenery around the house. So peaceful and quiet and perfect to get away from the world for a bit. We would definitely return. Thank you for such a lovely time.

mrs H,

A little off the beaten track but very peaceful and pretty countryside. Property is really lovely, well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds and lovely hot tub is a bonus. Would definitely recommend .

Mrs F,

Had a lovely stay. Very secluded and quiet location. Ideal that both bedrooms led out to the garden which was definitely convenient after being in the hot tub. Supplied everything that was needed, washing up liquid, oil for cooking, salt and pepper etc. Had a lovely welcome box containing chocs and cream tea which was very thoughtful. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to book again if we wanted to go back to that area.

Mrs K,

We have just got back from a lovely, very relaxing break at The Granary. The location was great, very peaceful and lovely for a relaxing couples break. It was not too far to travel to the beach which was great for us and the dog! The house was absolutely gorgeous and had a lovely garden for us to let the pooch loose in whilst we relaxed in the hot tub. On arrival, we were welcomed with treats for the dog, along with some fresh flowers and scones, clotted cream & jam for us! I would definitely like to visit here again sometime and would recommend to my friends & family.

Miss S,

Just had a lovely relaxing break at the Granary. Lovely peaceful location, and a gorgeous house and garden. Not far from Barnstaple and Woolacombe! The owners have thought of everything, and we loved the hot tub. The dogs loved the garden too. We were kindly left sweets, dog treats and fresh flowers. I'd love to visit there again sometime.

mrs M,

Beautiful property in a remote location, fitted out to a very high standard with everything we needed. Nice to have the bedrooms walk out on to the garden for the hot tub and to have two en-suites. Hot tub under the stars was amazing and we used it everyday to relax in the evening. I would thoroughly recommend.

Mrs M,

Lovely property, everything you need is there. Well thought through layout, lots of space indoors and out. We had visits from the neighbouring cat and lovely little dog, both very friendly and well behaved. In easy reach of the north Devon coast, lots of beaches, countryside and National Trust properties/locations.

Mr H,

The Granary is a wonderful place for a North Devon countryside holiday. The airy, open plan layout, great garden accessed straight from the bedrooms and the luxury of a hot tub after a hard day at the nearby beaches of Woolacombe and Putsborough mean a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday is assured. This was our 6th visit and we plan to return again in 2022. Can't wait!
