Description

In a peaceful rural setting on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, Round House is one of just two beautifully converted stone barns on a 300 acre working sheep and arable farm. Providing your ultimate escape to the country this property is designed and renovated to high specifications for the 2019 season. Round House offers very spacious accommodation that is light and airy, has kept much of the original character and yet offers a modern contemporary style.  On the ground floor an open plan kitchen/diner has everything you would need for catering for your family and friends and it will be a joy to sit around the large dining table looking out towards the surrounding countryside or enjoying the fresh air whilst alfresco dining on the terrace that runs along the whole length of the property.  The Round House gets its name from the large round high ceiling space at one end of the building where in the past horses would have been used to turn the grinding stones in the centre.  This space has been turned into an attractive and very comfortably furnished living room with a high apex ceiling, a large woodburner to give warmth no matter what the season and French doors giving access to the large terrace and offering wonderful country views.  The feature floor to ceiling windows in the living areas allows the tranquilly of the surrounding countryside to filter into the property and large glazed doors onto the terrace, extends the living area to the outside.  Two spacious bedrooms each with feature beams, ensuite facilities and offering the wonderful views of the surrounding countryside are on the first floor. This beautiful holiday home is an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of normal life where you can refresh, relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Bordering the picturesque scenery of the Exmoor National Park, visitors are welcome to roam the 300 acres of farmland. In the surrounding countryside there are great country walks to experience, local beauty spots to explore and activities to enjoy including riding, fishing, a safari across the moors or enjoying a meal in one of the wonderful character country pubs just a short drive. For those who want to balance the peace of the countryside with other pursuits the historic market town of South Molton with its pannier market, antique shops and tea rooms is just 3 miles, there are  and the surfing beaches of the Golden Coast around Woolacombe & Croyde or the spectacular high cliffs and hidden coves of the Exmoor coastline can all be accessed within a scenic 40 mins drive.

Reviews

Superb barn conversion in a delightful setting.in all a most enjoyable holiday.

Mr Alan R,

The Round House is a stunning and unique property with lovely views across a gentle valley. There are very wide sliding doors to access the sunny terrace; lovely for pre-dinner drinks and just enjoying the view; if you are quiet you may see a herd of red deer in the evening ..... magical. The sitting room (the 'round' room) is beautiful and the vaulted ceiling makes it very special. The furniture is very comfy too. The beds are extremely comfortable and the showers are superb. One (if not THE) best holiday property we have stayed in.

Dr Mary C,

It did take a bit of time to find the property, narrow country lanes once off the beaten track. Lovely property in the middle of the countryside. Lovely outlook, quiet, tranquil. Well appointed with lots of space, all you wanted was on hand, lovely kitchen, three bathrooms, lovely main bedroom. Very nice people who own the property, made us most welcome, we will return I’m sure. Ideal break in the countryside, get you bearings and visit Exmoor and the surrounding areas, great area North Devon, The Roundhouses gets ten out of ten from us. Perfect.

Mr Anthony D,
