There are two pretty bedrooms – a spacious double on the ground floor and a cosy single on the first floor as well as a good-sized bathroom. Outside, a private lawned garden has a patio with garden furniture, an ideal place to contemplate the peaceful valley and river views.

The property is on the edge of the village of Swimbridge and just a couple of hundred metres from an excellent pub which serves food – perfect for those evenings when you don’t fancy cooking. For nature lovers, there are plenty of walks from the doorstep and for those wishing to head to the coast, the golden sands and surfing beaches of Saunton and Croyde are both within 15 miles. Alternatively, head up the Atlantic Highway to explore the charming fishing villages of Instow and Appledore (14 miles) or visit the many shops, cafes and restaurants in the market town of Barnstaple, all within a 4-mile drive. You can also pick up the Tarka Trail from here and walk or cycle for miles. We spent a good week in this quiet and comfortable cottage. We enjoyed visits to Barnstaple and other local places, but also spent a lot of time relaxing at the cottage and recharging our batteries. A very peaceful holiday - just what we needed.

Website was out of date regarding distance of local shop from property - the local shop had shut down some time ago so there was not a shop within a mile as stated on the website. Otherwise, the property was excellent.

A lovely cottage with character in a quiet, peaceful spot in an attractive village. It was a perfect location from which to explore the beautiful area of North Devon. It was a joy to meet the owners, friendly and on hand if needed, but in no way intrusive.

The cottage was everything we were hoping for. Clean, comfortable, plenty of space, its own little garden and central for North Devon. The wifi worked well and everything was there that you could need. It is not far from Barnstaple and within easy reach of all the nice places to visit. A very nice cream tea was awaiting our arrival with milk in theRead more fridge, which was appreciated, as we arrived late on a Sunday afternoon. We only met the owners, Colin and Lee, once and they were both really pleasant and helpful. All in all this is a really nice cottage and I would highly recommend. Hide
