A fabulous property in a stunning location with terrace overlooking the River Dart at Galmpton. This beautiful boathouse is perfect for four people looking to stay in as close to the water as possible!

Galmpton Boathouse oozes coast charm but it’s got an historical past - in 1588 it was used as a base to home the captured Spanish prisoners after the Armada. There’s also a “secret entrance” for the mistresses of the “Prince of Pleasure” the then future King Edward VII, who used to frequent the adjoining house. If only walls could talk!!

Today, this contemporary waterside retreat is completely modernised and offers comfortable year round holiday living for 4 guests. Accommodation is all on one level with a double bedroom and open plan living room and kitchen with wide doors onto the fabulous terrace.

The ancient village of Galmpton is situated within enviable reach of Agatha Christie's famous Greenway house (1.4 miles), which offers wonderful National Trust parkland and vistas overlooking the River Dart. Guests can also enjoy a day out on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, with its route passing through Kingswear, where a scenic ferry ride to Dartmouth awaits. Glorious coastal countryside, which can be fully admired with a moment of bird watching, walking and sightseeing. A fantastic range of walking trails and the popular South West Coastal Path provides the perfect 'walk with a view' in Devon, whilst a host of beautiful gardens including Coleton Fishacre Garden (3.8 miles), Cockington (4.7 miles) and Greenway House (1.4 miles) set the scene for a magical day out. within easy reach of the alfresco dining options, delicious pizzas, fresh mussels and Indian and Thai eateries of Paignton (2.8 miles) and the fish and seafood restaurants, bistros, pubs, café bars and fine dining options of Brixham (3.1 miles).

A host of popular activities are also on the doorstep of Galmpton and the surrounding area, including sailing clubs, water sports, beach days, surfing, golf clubs, water parks, zoos and the vibrant delights of Torquay (5.9 miles).

Beautiful location with nice terrace to sit and watch the sunset

Dr Marcia K,

Lovely views over the river. Very peaceful. Final approach to accommodation single track but no real problem. Host friendly and showed us round but left us alone to enjoy our holiday. Thank you. Great base to enjoy steam train and riverboat trips as well as National Trust houses and gardens, Coleton Fishacre highly recommended. Great area for eating out and walks, though driving along some minor country lanes was a bit stressful, the destinations were worth it.

Mrs Marian B,
